I saw someone say we were getting 2 2nds back in the deal, which makes it a little better

But yeah, it's a lot when you consider this is entirely self-inflicted. We did not need to give any of these guys a fully guaranteed 2nd year, so any praise of Leon for getting rid of them has to come with that caveat.

Exactly. We also need to have higher expectations from this front office. If you are going to be jumping through all those hoops I’m expecting a little more than Jalen Brunson as the end result

Yeah, I mean, I like Brunson

He's fine

Little underrated by some people, little overrated by others

Not really worth 25 mil for us, would be worth 25 mil for a team who needs a good starting PG and has the rest of their roster down. Definitely am not down for spending 30 mil on him though

And I think that's where this is going. We went through this whole song and dance multiple times where we think the FO is moving in the shadows, setting up dominoes to fall, but then they only have 1 move in mind with no plan after that. People saw 4/100 but aren't reading into the fact that the sources say "over 100 mil". We're gonna give him 4/120, and make no other moves.

I had the same thought since Leon was his agent + IQ hanging out with him a lot lately

Maybe he isn’t on board with the new coach hiring and he is staying hush hush on a trade demand. One can dream….

come on bro....

I imagine that nobody saw jalen coming. Up until this midseason, he was a 4 year 55 million dollar player

We were linked to Jalen last year, April 2021 there's stories about how we covet him, they knew and they messed up. That's all there was to it.

Before the trade, they have 55m salary cap.

Edit - sorry it depends on how much they really want to offer Ayton. I don't see why Detroit would give Ayton a max contract.

I'm still not going to praise the FO for getting out of the same **** contracts they signed less than a year ago.

If they were **** contracts they wouldn't have been able to get out of them. They said the contracts would be movable and ultimately they were.

I suspect that Fournier is movable too.

Brock Aller sh*ts out second round picks on the reg, who the fk cares

Hopefully we don't give 30 mil to Brunson though, yeesh. 25 should be the cap

What this guy trying to say?

We still can go over the cap and use these deals in a salary match.

For instance, we can still sign and trade Brunson (24M = 19+5) using Burks (10M) and Noel (9M) contracts as fillers instead of using 24M of cap space. We would expand the deal with Dallas agiving the players in a 3 team deal to Detroit (that can absorb the players in cap space).

We can still use Kemba salary (9M) adding with Cam salary (6M) and using both as fillers to get a 15-20M player. DMurray costs 16,5 for instance.

Its called hustling backwards.

If you lose 50% of your money in the market you need to a make a 100% gain to just break even. Knicks nowhere near 100% gain to Justify the loss yet.

Even if by some miracle Knicks don't get Brunson atleast there will be playing time for the kids now.

So, depth chart:

Brunson/Rose
Fournier/Quick
RJ/Grimes(Cam?)
Randle/Obi
Mitch/Sims

I mean, an upgrade, kind of?

Assuming everyone improves, but we still have a pretty big log jam, and one of Grimes or Cam is still out of the rotation.
