I hope he stays true to his word here. LaMelo is our offensive engine and the results were extremely promising last season. We shouldn't have to jettison something that was working to fix our defensive/rebounding issues.

I'm not going to bother listening to a thing he says. I remember one of his defining features was always saying the right thing and then when it came down to it always doing the same things he always does. I remember him talking about playing at a faster pace countless times when he was coach before and I don't think they ever managed better than league average under him. Hes not going to allow a team he coaches to not be first in the league in defensive rebounding percentage (its the only trick he knows).

Wouldn't be surprised if they have an exceptionally lucky year with health next season, win 50 games, sign Cliff to a lifetime contract, then never break 40 wins again until LaMelo bolts and hes fired.

Looked it up, we actually had a higher average league ranking in pace under the last 4 years of Cliff than we did in 4 years under JB.

Also a higher offensive efficiency.

Was surprised to learn that.

He did all of that with worse players too

If the situation won't let us to compete for playoffs or play in this season, is there any chance Cliff to give our young players more minutes to play? At least it will be interesting to see our young players showing up their abilities, even if we are losing/tanking.

I'm still in dential too.

When we see Plumlee doing his McBob impersonation, then we'll know.

I can't wait to see lineups with Plumlee and Nic Richards.

The rosters Cliff had were hot garbage outside of Kemba. The one year we had some good role players like Lin and Lee, we made the playoffs. I’m starting to warm back up to Cliff. I’m skeptical about his end of game management though.

The more I think about this, the more I really like it. Clifford has a much more stacked team than he did in the past. If he can add defense without subtracting too much offense, the Hornets make it into one of the Top 6 seeds easily.

I typically *try* to stay positive with this team, but this Clifford hiring is a final straw kind of thing for me, I just can't abide it

Why would you re-hire a guy who within the last 5 years had to be fired in Charlotte and Orlando

whose style is unfit for Lamelo and the rest of this young roster

Clifford is un-modern, Old School, stubborn, anxious, curmudgeonly, defense first, not a PG whisperer, and a career loser

remember, his last stint here put him in the hospital

do people really expect him, despite this summer's Mister Softee routine, to change his stripes?

there are reasons his re-hiring came with bad optics, widely seen as emblematic of this franchise's incompetence

And do people realize they signed him for 4 years. 4 years!

The way things are going wouldn't surprise me if re-hiring Clifford proves to be the catalyst that drives Lamelo out of Charlotte

Return to Charlotte Hornets
