The article is flawed, Vildoza's contract becomes guaranteed for the portion needed to make the trade, so there's almost no cap savings here for the Knicks, which means the trade doesn't happen.

I don't think I'd consider Reddish a bench scorer, but he does defend, so he fills a need. I just don't see a deal that fulfills the Knicks cost saving desires.

I doubt Hartenstein is coming in for the tax MLE and I really don’t see us finding an upgrade from Allen with it either, much less in trade with no real assets to send out. It’s looking like another Semi+Hood off-season. Maybe we can keep Carter and find a kid like last years Hartenstein since he was one of the last FA signed last offseason

Unlike last offseason, we have 1st and 8- 2nds we can deal, plus Allen himself. We can make a deal if we're creative.

I thought the Rockets have our 2023 1st round pick?

Yes, that's not the one we'd trade. We can deal or 2029 pick. Rebuilding teams just want currency.

Lol rather not mortgage our future any worse than we already have. Hopefully we will have a GM that knows how to draft by then.

Everyone struggles at drafting. Not cashing in the pick on a sure thing now is giving away the present.

Well since it’s KD for a lottery protected pick then I’m in

Yup, because there's actually no players in between KD and the G Leaguers.

Dealing with people who exhibit the "smartest person in the room" syndrome can be a challenge. One approach is to listen their opinion while also encouraging open-mindedness. It's important to create an environment where all voices are valued.

That's a slippery slope. The statement is just incredibly false in a multitude of ways.

That's irrelevant if he's traded, and his salary is needed to work the trade. Then the portion needed to complete the deal becomes guaranteed. In this deal, roughly $1.5 becomes guaranteed

I would much rather angle for Grimes & Deuce, but putting rumors together this probably makes the most sense:

MKE out: Hill, Vildoza, '29 MKE 1st
MKE in: Reddish, Bates-Diop

NYK out: Fournier, Reddish, WAS '23 1st, DAL '23 1st, NYK '23 1st
NYK in: Murray

SAS out: Murray, Bates-Diop
SAS in: Fournier, Hill, Vildoza, WAS '23 1st, DAL '23 1st, NYK '23 1st, MKE '29 1st

Holiday / Wright (tMLE)
Reddish / Allen
Middleton / Connaughton / Beauchamp
Giannis / Bates-Diop
Lopez / Portis

I don't like Cam Reddish, but i can't be mad at taking a shot at a young player who hasn't lived up to his potential

I'd be mad at giving up a first that far out in order to do it, especially when we just invested a first into another developmental wing.

Ugh no chance I’m giving up a first for Reddish. Sure, take a flyer on him but only for the right price (and that price is cheap).

Surely Reddish is a guy you take on for the cost of having his salary and that's it? Dude needs to learn not to be a defensive liability.

He's restricted and they have full bird. He's been on two-ways with them since '19. That's the piece you're missing.

I'm not missing that. I've read multiple articles stating that despite that he's a non-bird RFA. I don't know exactly how it works, but I wouldn't be surprised if bird rights from one two way to another don't carry over (he first signed for 2 years, then for 1). And besides that, the Clippers are just as hard against the tax as we are. They could make a business decision to let him go, too.

I'm fairly certain here. Bird rights accrue in the same fashion as standard NBA contracts. Ie. Three service years equals three bird years and full rights. The same would be true about a player on a standard contract signing a two year deal and then returning on a one year deal with a team. They carry over in the same manner and the conversion from two way to standard is inconsequential.

Not saying they won't let him go regardless.

Definitely not advocating for trading a 1st for Reddish, even a heavily protected one. I think someone will pay a 1st for him though. I could see the Pels dealing a future 1st and absorbing him into their TPE.
