If they can get him for under 8-9 mil, go for it. Anything more is an overpay imo.

Navigating the salary cap rules is far more important for an over the cap team than the actual numbers of the salary. In VO's case, it makes little sense to just let him walk.

True -- correct me if I'm wrong, but are you saying that the Heat are already projected well over the cap either way, so it would make sense to just pay him? Andy always seems to find a way.

Correct--the Heat are already over the salary cap. So we have no cap space, just exceptions to work with. That is the benefit of having Oladipo's bird rights. If we are not hard capped, then we can go further over the salary cap to pay him. In theory we can go way over to do so, but luxury tax ramifications would come into play that may hamper this approach.

Nonetheless, having Oladipo's bird rights creates a scenario where his number should not come out the expense of others. The only real bind is if we want to try to keep PJ by giving him the full MLE. Doing so would hard cap Miami and limit upside moves.

I have no clue what a deal for collins would look like.

I’ll add that we’re trying to get the Spurs to help by taking Duncan for our 2027 1st

It would probably involve offering picks or swaps that ATL can use to get Murray. Spurs would have to take Duncan.

I'd hope so.

There's a way for this offseason for this team to strengthen a(or a few) finals run(s), just run it back or weaken the team but not crater after Butler is done.

Completely forgot about Murray. We knock off one of the 4 picks the spurs are wanting for Murray while the Hawks send the other 3 and send us collins to match salaries

AirP you start to get a little disingenuous whenever the FO is not in sync with what you personally want. Your agenda is Jimmy, you arent a lifer with this team, and thats fine. But some of these takes are just bad.

Miami traded an injured Winslow, and players they overpaid and wouldn't use in Johnson and Waiters, it was a **** trade and refused to give Gallinari an extension (because of Giannis watch) which is why they ended up with Crowder.

It wasn't a **** trade. They got rid of two undesirables in Johnson and Waiters for an expiring contract and Crowder, and while I'm not a big Crowder fan he did his job. Gallinari was not putting this team over the top. What team has Gallinari ever put over the top? I have no idea why he's look at as a savior.

Yes, Miami traded a 35 year old PG who was Butler's BF in Miami and Precious who was Bam's backup for 34 year old Lowry. Not really a great move.

It was the move that JImmy, your boy, wanted. He wanted to play alongside Lowry and the FO made it happen.

Not just Herro but Vincent also who they didn't want a vet min Dragic to take any of his minutes. The point is Miami has had assets to strengthen the roster for a championship run and haven't.

We weren't winning the championship with Dragic on this roster.

A trade for Collins and giving up the 1st to get rid of Duncan basically means we wouldn't be able to make another big trade if a whale shakes free at deadline? We're limited on picks right?

He came back about 20 minutes after telling me and asked me not to post the name in the forum because too many people are watching now after the back and forth last night. So because of that I won’t reveal the name right now, I don’t want to screw up is getting any info from them in the future. I’ll give the name in the near future when we have an answer on whether or not it’s going to happen.

Very solid pick up if it happens though, you all will be happy with it

Can i get a position please. Maybe height and weight as well?

And, where they went to college would help.

It would mean Miami has Herro and Collins for a big trade down the line though.

We have 3 1sts and 2 available swaps I believe. That would leave us with 2 to trade and 2 to swap. Add Herro and Lowrys salary we would have enough for a whale

Collins would be so awesome here. The real OG’s in here know i’ve been banging the door down for Collins since the draft. Bring the kid home. He’s always wanted to be a Heatle

Adam thinks the guy IceColds friend was talking about was Harrison Barnes but he wasn’t sure on that. He doesn’t think it’s an all star level guy

So this is the trade im guessing

Spurs receive: Duncan Robinson 1 MIA 1st rounder and 3 ATL 1st rounders

Heat receive: John Collins

Hawks receive: Dejounte Murray

Return to Miami Heat
