Im just surprised the Hawks would trade Collins to an in conference rival. That's just odd all things considered.

Lol I don't even want to begins looking at the cap gymnastics of that if it is even possible. Maybe before the herro extension kicks in.

Not close to being possible. I don't think there is much smoke behind Murray to Miami anyway (not worth that draft capital), the Collins pursuit might be legit though.

Ngl that starting line up would be insane. I guess the spurs think the hawks would still suck butt even after the trade lol.

They need that defender/scorer next to Trae after what Miami did to them, Trae can play very short SG if need be but if they don't get another ball handler they can expect everyone to try to do what Miami did to them.

Miami doing this trade for Collins would mean that we wouldnt have access to the full MLE and the max that we could offer to Tucker would be 8.4mil which would leave only 6.8mil roughly for Oladipo.

So this likely means Oladipo and Tucker are gone.

I dont know about you guys but if we can add Barnes for essentially the same outgoing price via trade of Robinson, Jovic and a FRP but still be able to retain PJ, Dipo and possibly Martin I feel that needs to be explored first.

Man, there have been a lot of guys with sources and who delivered. Even WaTcHoUt delivered some.

Then some guys who haven’t been here for more than a year or so come trashing IceCold who has been here for a while and has no reason to troll.

Hell we knew Shaq was coming a full 24 hours prior because someone here shared the news. And someone had heard about Bron but couldn’t confirm for sure. Some folks know their ****.

***Update

Via text:

- Jo, we got a hand shake deal in place, Miami should be announcing the trade as soon allowed all parties are in line. small items to sort but should be ready by the deadline. 12:01PM

- We are now focusing on keeping one of our integral pieces of Dipo or PJ. we cannot do both it's one or the other. We feel we can do better with Dipo as we can get him on smaller contract than what PJ wants while opening up possibility on a trade in future. 12:03PM

- We are starting to get more calls on possibilities with S&T for Dipo with some mid level players coming back. Some intriguing ones but nothing concrete, teams are last minute poking to see what bites. 12:04PM

- Brooklyn continues to press on Irvin, market is drying up and they are now willing to do Lowry + Dipo + Picks without Miami giving up Herro. Its what top brass was hoping they would get it down to. Now were here, we need to decide if Lowry can be productive enough vs the idea of Irvin leaving next summer or not working out. 12:09PM

- However we still pushing for Brooklyn to disregard the need for picks. We need them for the big trade coming up, if they get us down to just Lowry + Dipo these may go through for a year rental. Again top brass are 50-50 on the idea they like Lowry. 12:11PM

Is it me or is Oladipo a complete weirdo?

Dude was horny for us like a pubertal teenager in heat, and now he's trying to peace out after barely playing? Strange.

If Collins can be had for cheap I think that's the move you have to make, even if it costs Tucker. He'll be 25 when the season starts and gives us a legitimate front court pairing. Adding Jovic along with a FRP for Barnes is an overpay.

We have Oladipo bird rights, we can technically pay him anything, we just don't want to deal with the tax consequences.
With the Kings who's knows anything is possible, but assuming they have an ounce of common sense they would not trade Barnes and take back Duncan, but hey they are the Kings so anything is possible

Bam / Yurt / Haslem
Collins / Martin / Morris / Jovic
Butler / Strus / Highsmith
Dipo / Herro /
Lowry / Vincent / Garrett

That’s an improved team

The plan has always been to operate as over the cap team signing Tucker with Early bird. Not sure what Collins trade would have to do with this if we are sending out Duncan and possibly another few small contracts. We would have access to the tax payer midlevel of 7 million which some part of that goes to Martin. Oladipo is under bird rights.

jerami grant went for 1 first rounder, you’re overpaying

Not if your offloading Duncan. You need a 1st to offload that contract and another to for the acquisition of the player.

If the spurs are looking to tank how are we offloading

Dipo can’t be S&T’d with Lowry. League does not allow that and I don’t see how separate transaction works either. That would be one of the dumbest trades in history for Brooklyn.

Grant is expiring, Collins has 4 years left on his deal

The hawks don’t want him and he doesn’t want to be there so idk why that matters

He wanted to come back earlier then he did last year but Miami held him back, when he came back Spoelstra didn't really use him they gave him a "celebration" game, there's talk of Herro being paid a massive contract and said he wants to be the starter, even if he's the better overall player the contract will dictate starting much like it did for Robinson. Oladipo can see the writing on the wall that he'll be a roleplayer/low contract if he stays in Miami.

Return to Miami Heat
