Re: Pink Lemonade: The Miles Bridges Thread
If Miles signs the QO then he gets traded as soon as it's allowed, that's a no-brainer. His small salary would make it easy to swap him for a young talented prospect on their rookie deal, plus 1st(s).
I hope that it doesn't come to that though, I like Miles and I don't think he's topped out his potential as a player. Something around $25 million a year is fair and a big upgrade on his last offer from us. But if Klutch demands the max or QO then the problem is the agency itself and that can't be solved any other way besides moving him. I'd also never sign, trade for, or draft a Klutch client ever again if they advised Miles to go nuclear. That agency is full of **** at the best of times.

Re: Pink Lemonade: The Miles Bridges Thread
Not quite 9 figures but Nerlens Noel comes to mind. He wanted the max in 2017. Cuban wisely refused. Dallas offered him 4 years / $70m. He rejected it and opted for the $4m QO. He then got hurt and underwhelmed and ended up playing on a series of one year deals in the seasons that followed. He recently sued his agent (the aforementioned Klutch) for alleged bad advice leading to a loss of $57m in salary.Liver_Pooty wrote:When is the last time a player coming off their rookie contract declined 9 figures for a QO? I can't remember.

I have not seen any rumors of Miles signing the QO, are we just bracing for worst case scenario? haha.
Big Board

That's basically all we can do as Hornets fans.

Re: Pink Lemonade: The Miles Bridges Thread
If Miles does stupidly reject Charlotte's offer (in the $25M range?), then I think that's a big win for Clifford to have a contract-motivated Bridges on the floor. Would he become hero-Miles? Maybe. If he does, then he devalues himself. Good for next summer's contract negotiations. Meanwhile, the Hornets get one more season of quasi-All Star for less than $8M.
And if Bridges gets his $30+M next summer from another franchise, then Charlotte dodged a bullet of a contract.
I don't see things coming to such an extreme end, though. Charlotte will get a deal done with Miles this summer before it's all said and done. But if the two sides fail to meet and Bridges takes the QO...well, he'll be someone else's albatross.

Just sign Miles for 5 years 125 million and be done with it. It would be a huge victory for the Hornets luxury tax situation. I have to think his ultimate settlement will influence center targets. No, I don't think we will be going to battle with Mason Plumlee.
It has been written...

Noel and Cousins have/had talent, you also have guys like kcp (even though it was just talks, but he gambled a few times on short duration contract expecting the big offer that never came), Shabazz Mohammed or Dennis schroder gambling on their game. And badly losing.
I dont feel sorry for idiots though, even if it sounds harsh. The only exception being dipo.
ps : and no to 5 years of Miles. OR at the very least a team option. Not twice the same mistake. Especially when you dont know if Ball will sign his own extension in two years (well, next year actually).

Re: Pink Lemonade: The Miles Bridges Thread
I'm not bothered by 5/125 for Miles. It's eye-popping now but we're close to another big cap jump. A guy of Miles caliber will be getting a 'fair' offer of $30 million+ three years from now, as insane as that sounds.
I've been a fan since the 90s so all these numbers sound unhinged to me lol. I'm always like 'wtf, that's more than prime Shaq'.

5/125 would be a steal. I would be comfortable at 28 million a year or less. He has another gear to get to, especially with defensive awareness. Hopefully it can be taught.
I don't support domestic violence. Thanks Miles

This is a good point. If other teams know Charlotte would match, why not offer him a ridiculous deal?

Opposing team would be playing with fire if they did that. For one all their space would be locked up for 72 hours and they wouldn't be able to pursue much of anything. For 2 if charlotte didn't match they'd be stuck with a player that's not an all star on a max deal. It'd be risky.

it would still only be 4/130, not 5/173, but yeah, its a possibility that a team that has no plans to use their space on a day 1 FA might try to screw us - it would be either pacers or spurs. knicks will be focused on brunson, magic, if they want to pursue hartenstein, would need to not have 30 mil tied up for 3 days. doesnt seem like a spurs move to just troll a team. so, would pacers do it?

Miles is going to come cheap. He has been tweeting a lot about how he's been used by his wife. So there are definitely some troubles in the home.

Is it possible to still pivot to Ayton?
If the woman had to be hospitalized..you can't do that man, even if she was abusive.
