Sign and trade makes sense for Prince, but with Moore coming in to eventually play backup 3 and with Ant or MCD playing starting 3 this puts Prince at PF. I feel like the guy at the party who sees someone piss in the punch bowl and then someone else offers me a glass. Sign and trade made some sense, this makes no sense.

For a change, I couldn't disagree more. Yes, Prince had a very slow start but after that he played great back-up 3/4. Shot 38% from 3 after a bad start! He was very solid with a veteran's game.

I just think this is such a smart resign for the front office at 8mil per.

I get the vet argument, and I remember people talking about him as a leader. On that front I see value. But I hate small ball so so so much. There are literally no words to describe the depths of my loathing for it. Prince can improve a great many things, but he cannot gain height or reach. His rebounding, his interior defense, his whole game demonstrate that he is a 3 not a 4. There is nothing wrong with a good small forward, but we are full to the gills on guys who can play the 3, and that was before drafting another one, (two if you count Minott.) We have 4 true bigs on the roster in KAT, Reid, Kessler, and V8. V8 could and probably should be playing the SF on defense as he lacks the weight and strength to defend the paint. Is it so much to ask that we actually use our limited roster space on bigs?

8 mil/ 1year guaranteed is pretty fair market value, a little higher than I would've paid but he's a good vet and glue guy so I have no problem with that contract as it shouldn't keep us from making any other trades/signings, unlike last offseason when Rosas pushed us so close to the luxury tax from the start we had to wait until the last 2 weeks of the season just to sign a vet min reinforcement which I think cost us at least 3 or 4 wins.

Both Prince and McDaniels shouldn't be playing the 4, but the minutes crunch with guards/wings makes it hard to give them both minutes unless you play them there, when you have D-Lo, Russell, Ant, and Beasley all needing 28+ minutes.
Ideally you have Prince just take the backup 3 minutes for 15-18 minutes a game and maybe play a little more vs big wings like when we play the Clippers. He's also nice insurance to have if McDaniels struggles to fix his fouling problems.

The 2nd year being unguaranteed puts the writing on the wall in bold letters that our intention is to have max cap space next offseason and the odds of a Russell extension this offseason are slim to none (which is a relief to me).

With the 2 first round picks, this also puts us at 14 guaranteed contracts plus Minott, who its possible gets a 2-way.
I know teams like to have one open roster spot for flexibility.

Will we hold onto DLO for this year?

That looks like the most likely scenario at this point. I'm having a real hard time finding a viable trade destination even as a hypothetical.

Hmmm
Recency bias wants him gone.. but to load up for a big FA next season might be the way to go..

Decent I guess I feel his role will be reduced this upcoming season though so hope he is traded.

They do say we are stronger together ;). No, I am just someone who knows the definition of insanity and want us to to finally get better.

I hate small ball too. For 2 years now I've been writing that it's a fad and the pendulum will swing back. But it is clear that 6'6"-6'9" guys that can play more than 1 position will be here to stay.
I love what he gives us on the court and in the locker-room for 8 mil per. You need guys like that.

I'm excited about going bigger. Obviously Finch thinks it can be effective.

When I think about bigs i think about Bird, Parrish and McHale and how good they were together. Bring it on baby. :)
