You sound like me. There is no way I can watch this team next year if they run it back. There is no way they will compete with Russ.

It's so frustrating man how they've gone from a Championship contending team to a fringe playoff team in less than 12 months with the following moves:

- Trading every single remaining trade asset for a player who isn't good anymore
- Letting Alex Caruso walk and getting nothing in return

Even if you make the Westbrook trade and keep Caruso on a team-friendly deal, you still have another tradeable contract at the absolute WORST and at best you have a player who will play in every closing line-up for you.

If they don't make the Russ trade and instead trade Harrell/Kuzma for Hield - you still have KCP's contract that's extremely tradeable as you saw today. You also have a 2021 1st round pick and that player by now has shown promise or is another piece to be traded.

The Lakers management already threw away 2021-2022 when they did nothing at the trade deadline. If they don't attach a pick to Russ and trade him, they're going to be punting on 2022. And this is in LeBron James' 19th and 20th seasons in the NBA.

The Lakers front office is acting like their 1st round picks in 2027 and 2029 will be critical to their future team building without LeBron. Are you kidding me? That's not the Lakers. If those are high picks and the same people are somehow still in charge.. I don't want them. This organization and scouting department has excelled with late 1st rounders and 2nd round picks. When it comes to the top of the draft, they've mostly s**t the bed and fixed their mistakes by trading them ALL for Anthony Davis.

Free agency and trading for stars is the way the Lakers have always had success. There's no reason to pretend you're not what you are now for the sole purpose of having to admit the Westbrook move was an absolute failure.

If Westbrook is not actually going getting traded, they have to absolute HIT on veteran minimums, the tax payer MLE and a THT trade. There's probably only 1 or 2 scenarios where they can have success.

Scenario 1:

- Rumored Hield interest again and Indiana decides to trade Hield to the Lakers for Nunn, THT, Gabriel, second round pick.
- Sign Otto Porter for tax-payer MLE somehow. Taurean Prince extending was a massive blow.
- Sign defenders, athleticism, shooting with vet minimums.
- Russ/Hield/Porter/LeBron/AD starting 5 with Reaves, Stanley off the bench. For vet min additions you get Melo, Damian Jones, Schroder, Delon Wright

Scenario 2:

- Trade THT for Harkless/Holiday from Sacramento
- Sign Otto Porter for tax-payer MLE
- Russ/Holiday/Porter/LeBron/AD with Reaves, Nunn, Stanley, Harkless off bench. Vet min additions you get Melo, Damian Jones, Delon Wright, Patty Mills off bench

The only other scenarios involve trading Westbrook and if the Lakers aren't willing to sacrifice a Top 5 protected 1st round pick - it's not f***ing happening.

ROFL. I just read that Brad Turner (who's is plugged in as plugged in gets) "speculated" the Lakers moving THT for Coby White from Chicago.

You know what would fit great on this roster? Another small guard! BRING THEM DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kill me.

Slow down a bit.

White, as far as fit, is a huge upgrade over Tucker.

Yes, he's another small guard. Yes, he can't play with other small guards (ie. Nunn). Yes, Monk would be doneso ... but it's still an upgrade.

White has potential to close games with James and Davis. Tucker won't.

Agree with everything you said. Bottom line though is as long as Russ is on this team they will not compete. I agree they need to move 27 and 29 make them unprotected and go all out. It is to rare to have potentially two top 10 players in the NBA on the same team.

2 moves I’d look at is going all out with Indiana and Charlotte.

Russ, Nunn, and THT plus 27 and 29 unprotected for Myles Turner , Buddy Hield and Malcolm Brogdon. Indiana saves so much money and gets two first for Turner.

Russ and 27 and 29 for Gordon Hayward , Kelly Oubre and PJ Washington. Same here Charlotte saves massive amount of money able to resign Bridges and gets two first to do it.

Unfortunately I have no faith in this FO. I haven’t liked much they have done. And hate how handicapped we are from doing anything.

I wouldn't give away so many years of control over our draft for those kind of players. That will be like handicapping yourself, on purpose. :P We might be quite bad from 2024 onward, so those picks are a part of our hope of turning things around then.

So this Miles Bridges red flag may help the Lakers.

Hornets may have more reasons to rebuild with a Westbrook for Hayward+Rozier trade so that they can tank in 2023 and bring in new players with capspace in 2023 offseason.

What else is out there? And my point was to go all out while you still have Lebron and AD. Lakers made there bed with the Russ trade by trading every asset we had left. They have already wasted another year of Lebron and AD I just can’t watch them again this year. Also the two picks the odds you get someone as good as Turner or Hayward aren’t that high.

What else is out there? Well, how about the future, for one?

I wouldn't like to see the FO give up 7 years of control over the draft for players like Myles Turner or Gordon Hayward. Certainly not to put them around a 38YO Lebron. If you had a 28-32YO Lebron, that would be different... as you would be giving up those picks for a longer window for contention, not for a 1-year long shot only.

Agree.

Besides, it was bad coaching. We shouldn't have to give up first round picks to trade Russ.....right Jeanie?

Russ + 2027 1st lotto protected or 2 2nds to San Antonio
Gallo + Richardson + McBuckets to Lakers.
DDV for the MLE.

Muscala - Dwight - Jones
Davis - Gallo - Gabriel
LeBron - McBuckets - Johnson
DiVincenzo - Richardson - Reaves - Christie
Nunn - THT

You can close with a line up of Davis - Bron - Reaves - Nunn - DDV.

or package Nunn + THT + Johnson + Gabriel in a deal to upgrade the PG or 3&D wing position at the trade deadline.

I get your point but your ok with just throwing away this year and possibly next couple years? And Turner and Hayward are really good players to put around Lebron and AD. And Turner and Ad you have a front court for the next 5 years easily you never have to worry about. I’m
Just at the point that Lakers backed themselves into this corner. They wasted last year and on the verge of wasting this year. No point to be mediocre in this league you either go all out or you tank and with Bron and AD tanking can’t be an option.

Brodgon+Hield to Lakers
Russ+2027 1st lotto protected to Pacers
Bamba for MLE
Vet minimum additions in Dwight and Melo (last resort)

Bamba - Dwight
Davis - Melo - Gabriel
LeBron - THT - Johnson
Hield - Reaves - Christie
Brogdon - Nunn

Excellent floor spacing for that starting unit. Defense would be a work in progress, but if AD comes back hungry he can make up for some of the shortcomings. Maybe try to flip THT and Nunn for a 3+D wing by the deadline.

Yeah. The Pacers deal would clear the necessary salary for us to get under the luxury tax and thus gaining the full MLE. It's an underrated aspect about that trade.

I was proposing in the other thread we use the MLE to sign and trade Monk to the Kings who really want him, for Richaun Holmes.

But I'm down for Bamba as well obviously.

Of course you want a clear path to minutes for Richaun Holmes.

If those trades are available LAL would have to do them but the starters played in a total of 181 out of 410 games last season.

Just wonder if it is even merely possible that WB can be traded for Donovan Mitchell of Jazz. The fire sale of Jazz can be something we look into. Don't mind giving up some picks for him

For example

Westbrook + Nunn + 2027 1st + future rights to swap picks for Mitchell and Bogdanovic / Mike Conley

This way, Utah can clear cap space for the next season. Westbrook can be signed for less next season.

Of course, there should be some more interesting trade package offered. But let's not be frightened to try.
