Who is that wing?

Kings have let go of DiVincenzo shortly after, so the rumour must be real.
S&T him for Holmes. Seriously, it makes too much damn sense for both teams.
Holmes is expendable with Sabonis in town and has a nice cheap contract for his value. He'd be instantly the best C we had in the past decade.
If the Pacers rumour is also real, and we have a shot at Brogdon/Hield for Westbrook/1st..
That's an absolutely ALL WORLD summer for us.
Brogdon
Hield
Lebron
Davis
Holmes
I can live with that. I can **** run away with it tbh.

Why would Monk take our TPMLE to move to the Kings, when he can sign for more money with the Kings outright?
I need the Pacers deal rumour to be real, though

Donte DiVicenzo is a UFA. Would be be a guy to look at, as a 3s/D SG???

It's not how the S&T works. He can sign a deal similar to Holmes for all they care. Kings can offer him whatever they want.
It's the Kings giving him the contract, not us. He negociates with them, not us.
Our only part in the deal would be agreeing to take back Holmes, which is a no brainer for us IMO. He's a very very very solid C and still young, with a manageable contract(12 mil per year is nothing with a 123 mil cap).
Point is us not to leave empty handed. Kings have a ton of bigs on their roster, they also drafted Keegan Murray at 4.
Keegan Murray and Sabonis in the frontcourt works much better than Sabonis/Holmes.
Holmes has 3 years left on his contract at 12 mil per. You're really going to spend 12 mil for a backup 5 if you're the Kings?
This is their chance to get rid of a long term contract. It makes too much sense for both our teams.
Add in the Westbrook potential deal, a possible THT trade and the team would round up to be quite good.

I believe Kuz is correct. LAL has to sign him first and then trade him and LAL cannot sign him with the King's money. They are limited to the TPMLE.

No, he's not. A team that signs a player can't trade that player for at least 6 months. THT last year. He wasn't trade eligible until January.
Check the sign and trade rules. Monk will negociate his salary strictly with the Kings. That said team can offer an asset to that player's former team if that team(us in the instance) is willing to take it. That's a sign and trade.
These deals are usually made when teams are over the cap space, to give the FA more money. Also more often than not they include a TPE or picks, not players back.
I believe the Kings have some money to spend but not much, they can sign Monk outright but they can shed 30+ mil in salaries if they ship Holmes to us.
They can give Monk 12-14 mil per year(matching the salary to that of Holmes) if they agree to send us Holmes in a S&T.
So more money. Without the S&T I don't think they can offer him more than 10 or so, the equivalent of the MLE.
They still have Metu, Len, Damian Jones and Neemias Queta on the roster. Backup to Sabonis available here, they don't need a lot of good minutes.
They will get rid of Holmes this summer regardless, why not to us?
ROballer wrote:An example of a S&T will be Ayton.
Suns don't want to max him.
Another team does. However, that other team(a rumor is the Nets) doesn't have the cap space to max him, so they can work a S&T while sending salaries back to match(Nick Claxton, Joe Harris, etc).
Ayton will be gone this summer only via S&T, since no team can sign him outright because they don't have the cap(Detroit has cap space but they don't want him).
We can't give Monk a lot of money. The Kings can, while sending close to that salary back(this is depending of us accepting that).
If it's Holmes(12-13 mil per, the same salary Monk will ask for), we would be dumb to say no. We've been looking for a good C for years.
The NBA’s Collective Bargaining Agreement states that a free agent who signs with an NBA team can’t be traded for three months or until December 15, whichever is later. Those rules will be tweaked slightly this year to account for the shortened offseason, but December 15 will still be the earliest date that a player who signs as a free agent this summer can be dealt.

The FA is sorting his **** with the team he's signing with(as in the team he ends up with).
After the deal is agreed upon, the team that lost him can be swayed into doing a sign and trade and get a tpe (usually the case), picks or contracts back, if that team chooses so.
We can either get a TPE for Monk....or Holmes if he's on the table, the salaries will be similar.
We've been through this with THT this past year, come in now. People were counting the days until the deadline he can be traded after.
