Nothing official other than out for tonight's game, but at this point in the season there's a temptation to keep injured players out until after the All-Star break.

Yeah you are right, they tend to do that around all-start break. Good point.

If some of you guys are unaware and want to see Lauri Markkanen in action, he will play for Finland in at least couple of games very soon. He will help Finland in World Cup qualifier games against Sweden and Croatia. Finland is currently leading the group. It's still unclear what position he will play. This should be really interesting because these are not some practice games. These are really competitive games. Finland really doesn't want to lose against it's neighbor Sweden. At the same time we all want Lauri to not get injured so that's another exciting factor in these games.
Finland - Sweden - 30th of June - 11:30 AM (East Coast / New York time) - Thursday
Croatia - Finland - 3rd of July - 14:00 PM (East Coast / New York time) - Sunday
Group Standings:
----
Finland - 3 wins - 1 loss
Slovenia - 2 wins - 2 losses (both losses to Finland)
Sweden - 2 wins - 2 losses (they upset Finland and gave Finland their first loss, Finland is up for a revenge in 5 days)
Croatia - 1 win - 3 losses (Finland will meet them few days after the Sweden game. Croatia with it's NBA stars is a big favorite in that one)
More things on this. I as a Finnish guy am really glad that Finland doesn't have to play against Slovenia who will have Luca Doncic playing for them in their next few games. Slovenia is the current European champion and Olympic #4 and even without Doncic they were the favorite against Finland, but Finland beat them twice.
After this first group phase will be over there will be another group phase. All 4th placed teams will be eliminated after group stage one and after that two groups will merge, forming a group of 6 teams and top-3 of that group will go to the World Cup. So Finland will have 3 of 4 of the following teams joining with them in a merged group and competing with them for the 3 World Cup slots: Germany, Israel, Estonia and Poland. There are no basketball powerhouse teams here so Finland has a real chance of making it to the World Cup.
Oh and Lauri Markkanen will most likely also play in the Eurobasket = European Championship tournament at the end of this summer or so.

Lauri had a really good game after strugling a bit in the 1st quarter in a win against Sweden.
Shot 8/15 from the field (2/6 from 3) and 4/4 from the line.

I don't know if it's up on the internet without having to pay. Live streams should be much easier. There's the Croatia-Finland game coming tomorrow:
Croatia - Finland - 3rd of July - 14:00 PM (East Coast / New York time) - Sunday
Croatia has a must win game against Finland or they will be out of the World Cup qualification completely. Doncic and friends made easy work of them. I'm guessing that they will dress pretty much the same players for the Finland game. Bojan Bogdanovic is probably the most notable name in their squad. Here's the player list for Croatia:

Finland beat Croatia and at the same time Finland eliminated Croatia from the World Cup qualifiers. It was a thriller ending. Markkanen did the winning 3 pointer. Finland did an amazing come back at the end of that game. Markkanen started the game really strong offensively, but he couldn't get his shots in until the last winning shot really. He still made 19 points and was Finland's efficiency leader.

Markkanen did 42 points against Ukraine in a friendly game. It was an OT game. It ties for the record of most points made by a Finnish player in a match ever.
Both teams had nearly perfect rosters. Ukraine had two NBA players (Alex Len - Sacramento & Svi Mykhailiuk - Raptors) and this was the final game before the real games are starting next week, the World Cup qualifiers. It was played in Markkanen's home city in Finland.

Israel was very good, but Finland was better. Finland is very close to playing in the World Cup now.
Top-3 of each group qualify for the World Cup:

Some European NBA superstars were playing last night for their countries, such as Doncic, Jokic and Giannis Antetokounmpo to mention a few.

Nice to see Lauri playing well. If Finland qualifies for the World Cup, it looks like it will be just the second time (2014 being the other).

That's true, but Finland didn't legit qualify that time, because Finland got a wild card spot. This time it would be a huge accomplishment however. Finland has a lot better roster overall now, not just Lauri, so I think that Finland would also play better in the next World Cup compared to this game against USA for example. What a sick roster USA had though. There's even a full game link below. Pretty cool that it's there, at the same time pretty sad for Finland lol. Lauri and Finland will play against Finland's neighbor Estonia next in this World Cup qualification, on Sunday. It probably comes pretty early North-American time on Sunday. It should be on the morning or on the afternoon.

Yeah Israel was very good team and game was entertaining and exciting as well.
Israel caused a lot troubes for us and they almost forced game in overtime but thanks for great team plays
before the end of regulation that helped a lot to secure the win.
Next Friday ( 2nd September ) starts Eurobasket tournament and again vs Israel.
Then next Saturday ( September 3rd ) Finland has Poland and Monday ( 5th September )Serbia.
Serbia will tough and difficult game for us hopefully Jokic won't destroy Lauri and whole wolfpack so badly.

2014 FIBA world cup was great experience for those guys who played there.
But it came with wild-card spot so Finland didn't play themselves straight into that tournament.
But now it truly looks that Finland is close to play 2023 FIBA world cup.
A lot can still change in group stadings and nothing isn't set in stone or cemented officially.
Estonia has got some big wins and they have Finnish coach ( Jukka Toijala ) so the game won't be piece of cake for Finland.
Yes if Lauri has good or great game once again then Finland will win.
The key question for Estonia i that who's guarding Lauri
because even Israel had big troubles to STOP Lauri's scoring in 1st half ( Lauri secored 20 points ) of the Finland vs Israel game
but in the second half Israel changed their defense and it worked well and Lauri scored only 8 points ( 4 per quarter ) more.
