He does all the things that we loved seeing D-Rose do when he would show flashes during our last playoff run. Plus he's a better passer and shooter. I think he'll outperform the contract to be honest.

How isn't he worth the contract? That's slightly more than Malcolm Brogdon gets, and I expect a similar jump in production from him that Brogdon had when he left Milwaukee for Indiana.

Spencer Dinwiddie is getting $20 million per.

So in about 2 years he will become an unwanted contract after failing to take the Knicks anywhere. Sounds about right

Alan Hahn's comment on Shams tweet, "The fact that this is being reported an hour before players are even allowed to talk to teams suggests someone wants to nail the Knicks for tampering."

Not a fan of this. Sure he is better than what we have but tying up that money into a guy who won't make much of a difference in terms of W/Ls is a mistake.

Depends, is he going to tear his ACL like Dinwiddie, or be perpetually injured like Brogdon?

From a purely production standpoint he's nowhere close to being a contract overpay, especially compared to other PGs.

14th highest paid PG is far from an overpay.

Sure but even with Brunson we’re the 14th worst team in the league, so what are we doing signing another non-difference making vet to a $100m contract?

They still think 20 the max. Black Air Force types mainly.

Leon better hurry up and trade all these assets before sanctions hit.

Honestly got a good feeling about Brunson. He's not my first choice, but he's very solid. I'm starting to actually like it. Will love it for under 20 mil.

Are you serious rn?

Brunson is a non-rookie contract player who’s now making 20% of the entire salary cap. Brunson + Randle + Fournier = >50% of the entire cap.

Any sane team would never have signed 25 year old veteran Julius Randle after being bad in 2019, just as any sane team would have purged all the veteran contracts to start IQ/Obi in 2022-23.

This is exactly the same thing. It’s the Steve Mills plan. Which was always just the Isiah plan. I like Brunson, but it is what it is and there’s very little hope of competing for championships at any point during the remainder of Brunson’s likely career.

I like it.
A bit of an overpay, but the most talented person we’ve gotten to come here in a while.
