My favorite part of the week leading to this was how the protected first round picks we got from okc were worthless trash but the 2nd round picks we had to give away were important draft capital that could be future MVPs

Vet? He's 25 and this was his first season as a starter.

Are you serious rn?

Brunson is a non-rookie contract player who’s now making 20% of the entire salary cap. Brunson + Randle + Fournier = 50% of the entire cap.

Any sane team would never have signed 25 year old veteran Julius Randle after being bad in 2019, just as any sane team would have purged all the veteran contracts to start IQ/Obi in 2022-23.

This is exactly the same thing. It’s the Steve Mills plan. Which was always just the Isiah plan. I like Brunson, but it is what it is and there’s very little hope of competing for championships at any point during the remainder of Brunson’s likely career.

When did Isaiah have 11 first rounders or whatever we have

Knicks would be happy +5-10 wins and compete for seeds 6-10. They're against full tanking so have to try and improve. Recapture 20-21 energy and make a big trade someday.

Yes, I am serious, saying he's a vet is you just trying to place him on the same tier as Fournier or Burks, guys who were approaching 30 and were known commodities in the league. Brunson has started 127 games in his career, there is still more room for him to grow as a player, which cannot be said about the "vets" you trying to compare him to.

The rest of that is just whining, they aren't going to tank, they might trade Randle who knows, but at the end of the day this is actually a solid signing with a lot of room to make improvements. With a usage increase Brunson could be a 20-22ppg guy right away, at which point he's outplaying his contract, relative to the rest of the PGs in the league.

1 of the top FA on the market in a shallow poole.
The rest of the nba clinging at scraps mostly working on the trade market the rest of FAs are like MLE guys.

That being said it was nice signing but hopefully our FA is not over .

Oh man, you really got me!

It’s the evolution of Isiah. Isiah traded all available assets for Marbury. Donnie Walsh was required to trade the kitchen sink for Carmelo. And Leon is clearly playing the same script, albeit much more methodically.

This script has been failing for 23 years, but yeah Brunson is an exciting shiny new toy. This totally isn’t exactly the same mistake Mills made literally three seasons ago with Randle. We should compete for the 8 seed and two home playoff games! Ticket prices will be lit. LFG!

SAS just made a great point. How do you beat the Knicks now? Brunson, R.J. and Randle go left....

Btw the tampering thing is a joke.
Because it was reported early?
If Brunson decided last week if he wants Knicks is that tampering ?
All he gotta do is open realgm to see what Knicks offering .

Everybody acting like they supposed to know more than Brunson or it’s tampering . GB gtfo.

 Hey assuming that the Knicks don't get hit by tampering charges and lose both Brunson and draft picks, he's a Knick. So cheer the poor guy on!!

Dude rooting for championships is a waste of time if you’re a Knicks fan. Just root for a fun product on the court bc a title here is not happening any time soon.

How isn't he worth the contract? That's slightly more than Malcolm Brogdon gets, and I expect a similar jump in production from him that Brogdon had when he left Milwaukee for Indiana.

Spencer Dinwiddie is getting $20 million per.

So in about 2 years he will become an unwanted contract after failing to take the Knicks anywhere. Sounds about right

Depends, is he going to tear his ACL like Dinwiddie, or be perpetually injured like Brogdon?

From a purely production standpoint he's nowhere close to being a contract overpay, especially compared to other PGs.

Once this new crop of young guards starts to emerge he will look like a big time overpay. He’s very average

Yeah, it's only tampering if someone on the Knicks said that they have come to an agreement. Brunson saying he's going to be a Knick isn't tampering. If it was then Lebron saying that he'll only sign with 3 teams would have been tampering (between the 3 teams that must have tampered to get on the list). But now that we're on the tampering subject, what Leon Rose should be doing is telling everyone in his front office to reset their mobile devices to factory settings (just in case).
