This contract is going to age like milk.

If I was on the wizards I'd be doing all I could to get out. I couldn't consciously play along a guy that gets paid more than half a million dollars per game to let people walk by him on d so can go down the other end to shoot again.

What the hell was the franchise thinking.

See my post. It's ALL owner-driven by Leonsis. He's the worst owner in the NBA. The team will never tank because he said so publicly. His entire strategy is the get two playoff games because that makes them profitable. He's paid the luxury tax once during his entire tenure.

Sheppard has been a massive improvement over Grunfeld (worst GM in NBA history that Leonsis kept in power for 15+ years). Unlike Grunfeld, Sheppard hasn't traded first rounders for win now moves. It is impossible to win with a loser owner like Leonsis.

Dunno if I'd call paying a guy like Beal, who turns 30 next year, 50 mil a year for the next half decade is good value.

Holy moly...50 mil a year for Beal...

What should the wizards have done, keep Beal at this cost or let him walk and tank?

Obviously, tanking nets picks..but that's never guaranteed. On the other hand, signing Beal at least let's you keep a valuable asset. But the deal can be a trade killer, as he's not gonna be very tradeable on the market

Time will tell with these Supermax deals. They were intended for generational talents, but as predicted, 2nd tier stars on bad teams are getting them too. Wonder how this will play out

The guy played 57, 60 and 40 games the last 3 years. He is hardly healthy.... coming off the worse season since John Wall was still suiting up for the Wizards.

I mean the man averaged 23.2pts on 53.4%TS last season with a disatrous 30%3pt on a team that went 35-47 without Russ carrying them in the regular season lol

The love for Bradley Beal is unfathomable.
Why do podcasters, journalists, and fans talk about him so much?
He has no real identity or iconic style of play.
He can't carry a team.
He's not a top 20 player by any stretch of the imagination.

They spent years trying to rid themselves of the Wall contract, then lucked into dumping Westbrook.

Now they’ve locked themselves into the worst contract in NBA history.

$50 million a year for Bradley Beal.

Absolutely insane. In no universe is Beal worth that money. I wouldn't pay him a contract for even half that.

Ordinary 2-gaurd. Wizards are doomed for mediocrity forever it would seem.

Bradley beal is irrelevant and will retire like that..that's fine. You gotta respect that he wants the bag.

Look at kemba, he decided to go to boston and now he can't even play on the knicks
