Brunson is a non-rookie contract player who’s now making 20% of the entire salary cap. Brunson + Randle + Fournier = 50% of the entire cap.
Any sane team would never have signed 25 year old veteran Julius Randle after being bad in 2019, just as any sane team would have purged all the veteran contracts to start IQ/Obi in 2022-23.
This is exactly the same thing. It’s the Steve Mills plan. Which was always just the Isiah plan. I like Brunson, but it is what it is and there’s very little hope of competing for championships at any point during the remainder of Brunson’s likely career.
When did Isaiah have 11 first rounders or whatever we have
Oh man, you really got me!
It’s the evolution of Isiah. Isiah traded all available assets for Marbury. Donnie Walsh was required to trade the kitchen sink for Carmelo. And Leon is clearly playing the same script, albeit much more methodically.
This script has been failing for 23 years, but yeah Brunson is an exciting shiny new toy. This totally isn’t exactly the same mistake Mills made literally three seasons ago with Randle. We should compete for the 8 seed and two home playoff games! Ticket prices will be lit. LFG!
I wasn’t trying to “get you” my man just saying why I don’t see how this comparison makes any sense when we have all our picks and many additional firsts and this wasn’t even a trade. Randle had never been in the playoffs when we signed him and we saw Brunson look nice in the playoffs so I don’t get that comparison either.
