How? Rose carried us to the playoffs and look at his numbers off the bench he’s been as productive as Brunson as a starter

Rose averaged 12ppg and missed 56 games, this season.

Brunson averaged 17.5ppg 5.0apg 4.2rpg on 50% FG 39% 3pt in 61 starts this season, that was on a miniscule 21.9 usage rate and 71.6 touches per game.

Just for comparisons sake, Alec Burk's averaged 70.4 touches and a 17.2 usage rate as a starter. If you just replaced Burks with Brunson and didn't even up his usage or touches, he should be right around his 17.5ppg numbers, but he should see a bump in those touches and usage numbers, which should make him a 20ppg scorer on solid efficiency. Keep in mind, his efficiency didn't go down much in the playoffs even though his isolation frequency increased, assisted shots percentage dropped and his usage rate went up 8-)

Per 36 they put up almost identical numbers. Last year Rose off the bench put up even better numbers than Brunson as a starter. He’s officially overpaid and now he’s reaching overrated territory.

Rose can't play 36mpg

He missed 32 games last year, and what does last season have to do with this season? Brunson will most likely average 20ppg with an increased role, just like he did in the playoffs this year.

If Rose is worth $14 million per year and misses 60% of the season, what is a 25 year old worth who can play those games?

Vet? He's 25 and this was his first season as a starter.

Are you serious rn?

Brunson is a non-rookie contract player who’s now making 20% of the entire salary cap. Brunson + Randle + Fournier = >50% of the entire cap.

Any sane team would never have signed 25 year old veteran Julius Randle after being bad in 2019, just as any sane team would have purged all the veteran contracts to start IQ/Obi in 2022-23.

This is exactly the same thing. It’s the Steve Mills plan. Which was always just the Isiah plan. I like Brunson, but it is what it is and there’s very little hope of competing for championships at any point during the remainder of Brunson’s likely career.

And so the bar moves up again. While we should look to steadily improve we need to make the Finals for you to be happy? Lol
Brunson is literally a 20pt scorer in the playoffs but not good enough for this team?

Brunson is going to average 20 a game on a team that features Randle and RJ? Oof

Brunson as a 2nd option couldn’t reach 20 but he will as a 3rd option now? I think you are getting way too ahead of yourself here

Nobody ever wants to come here, how many times were we left holding the bag at the altar?

a *actually* winning player from a *winning* team wants to come here and ppl still find a way to complain. What else are we supposed to do? You win in this league with winning players, not a collection of "good players" that cant win on their own:

Reggie Bullock

The hartenstein deal sounds like MLE money as you only have that if you are operating over the cap.

I think someone posted a graph saying we were 10 mil under depending on how Brunson's deal is structured

So it could be MLE, could be just cap space

Opposite.

He’s too good for this team. So was Randle in 2019. Adding quasi-All Stars to a lotto team hurts your ability to sign a true star in FA, trade for one with your dwindling asset pool, or (the easiest path) draft one with increased lotto odds.

I’m not complaining that Brunson won’t make us contenders in 2023. I’m complaining because for 23 years Dolan has chased fake stars to nowhere but failure, and this move just digs the hole even deeper.

Don’t worry, I was banging the same drum in 2019 saying give Randle’s money to Rubio and rebuild, but nobody listened then either.

Brunson buys Leon another year to make his inevitable godfather trade for an actual All Star, which fans will wildly approve of just in time for Leon to get an extension. And that’s probably all this is really about — Leon protecting Leon so that he lasts to his next contract.
"Sell the team. Sell the team. Sell the team."

Let’s see:

Brunson/Rose/Deuce
Grimes/IQ/Keels
RJ/Evan/Cam
Randle/Obi
Mitch/Hart/Sims

I think Taj gets declined and Mitch comes back.
I think Cam plays the 3&4.

Only thing left to do? Sign Melo

Jokes aside, we can definitely work a decent trade this week with Rose, Evan, Cam & picks as all possible assets to push out.

they can't go into the season with Cam Reddish not in the rotation. Just deal him for picks if you aren't going to play him. Or Fournier needs to be moved.

Yes, he'll average 20ppg on our team if he gets the touches Burks got when he was starting, while siphoning some away from Fournier, RJ and Randle as well.

He had no problem averaging 28ppg against your boy Donovan
