I 100% get needing to keep your assets but this seems counterproductive to building a winning team.

So if history repeats itself Beal will be injury plagued (was already gimpy last year) and WAS will have the worst contract in the league for the 3rd time in 20 years (Arenas, Wall).

It seemed pretty clear that was just posturing to ensure the Wizards paid up. "Where I feel like I could win" is a lot different than "I want to compete for titles."

No problem with him or any players getting paid.

Only problem I have is player signing a new contract and demand a trade 1 season later while refusing to play.

Beal will eventually realize he can't win ín Washington and will ask to be traded..it's too late..his contract is massive..going to end up like Westbrook.

He ain't worth that kind of money.

Great scorer.

Now the most over paid guy in the league.

$50 million/year for a fringe all-star. One of the worst contracts ever signed.

The Wiz should get on their knees and thank god if he requests a trade after year 1. It’s probably the only time they’ll be able to trick another team into thinking he has positive value.

That is nuts… they never learned!

Although it’s not like Beal had a different option anyways. I guess feeling to pay/get paid $50mil per was mutual? No other team can or would give him that.

Crazy deal

Should have traded him last year when he had some value

Westbrook. Even if its expiring.

Kyrie Irving is a close second right now with only one team wanting to touch him.
