Re: 2022-23 NBA Season Discussion
Durant is more likely to get his jersey retired in 2 stadiums than 0...pretty much guaranteed really.
Fandom in the present tense has no bearing on whether a player gets their jersey retired.

Golden State shouldn't. He will end up being a footnote in franchise history compared to Curry, Klay and Dray. Retiring his next to theirs will cheapen their contributions to the success that team has had.

Durant should only get his jersey retired at every Magnolia Bakery location and herpetarium in the world.

I don't think 3 years is enough to get your jersey retired but I think OKC should retire his jersey. I don't like the guy but he did enough for that franchise that he deserves it.

It all comes down to how the fans feel. I definitely could see him number getting retired but if they still dislike him it won't happen

Lakers need additional high impact players. Solid rotation players won't help them get back to contention. Accordingly they aren't even looking for guys like that.
Lakers management is looking at Walker as a high upside player. Most likely he'll continue to stink but there is still the potential for a big a leap that doesn't exist for the average vet. I doubt it will pay off but the logic is intelligible to me.

Warriors gonna miss him a lot
He gave them wild amounts of value for his contract
I love all the moves blazers have been doing, a shame they may come too late in lillard career to build a contender

I'm not saying it will happen. I highly doubt it will. But I'd love, somehow, the Blazers to go on a run ala the 2011 Mavs. Total Disney wish but I love it

Warriors could've matched it but chose not to, I imagine that's where the luxury tax aspect of things kicked in.
I imagine they're retaining Looney but not Otto? Perhaps planning on bigger roles for Moody and Kuminga next year. Not sure I haven't really heard much noise about OPJ as far as what teams are interested in him, if any?

Re: 2022-23 NBA Season Discussion
GP2 to the Blazers? Couldn’t think of a more pointless team for him to sign to.
GP2 would quietly make an 8th seed decent, a decent team good, and a good team the Warriors.
GS is not better than LAC after this. GS was only really looking vulnerable when GP2 was out in the latter rounds.
Absolute peak Tony Allen level defense with Deandre Jordan level cutting and finishing…from a guard who could spot up and drain everything.
Golden state had a superstar level impact guy in a simple role. Probably never again in Curry and Draymond’s careers. Though I imagine GS doesn’t believe in what I said to some degree. Otherwise he’s not leaving for less than $10M a year.

Orlando?
The Greatest of All Time debate in basketball is essentially who has the greatest basketball resume of the player who has the best highlights instead of who is the best player

Assuming we go all in to get Kyrie of course,
For the min I get it, for the TPMLE you want a guy that’s a valuable rotation player, for example I would have been angry as hell if we got monk for that.
He might turn out to be a good signing, I get it, but atm he seems like a 3 and D guy that can’t play D and has 1 good year from three that wasn’t last year
I have some irrational hope but it’s pretty dumb
If they don’t give up two firsts I’m gonna freak out

Durant should get it retired for the Warriors
Okc is weird, because from an achievement standpoint for sure but it’s hard when the entire fanbase hates you and you say they have to do it, making them not want to do it more (he might’ve said it for the Warriors too but they don’t really care)

Durant is getting his jersey retired by the Warriors.
I'm pretty sure they've already confirmed that after he announced he was leaving in 2019.

I actually kind of hope KD+Irving end up on the Lakers.
It'd be fun to watch.
Doubt it happens though.

Orlando?
Jonathan Isaac and GP2 would be the best defensive combo since…Draymond Green and GP2.
It would at least be the beginning of a real culture and mentality. Portland is just gonna be mediocre most likely.

That is a 0% chance. Lakers just have no assets to make it happen. I still think both Kyrie and Durant are back next year. And if one guy goes, I actually think it is more likely than not to be Durant.
Kyrie's only chance at a max contract is turning in a great season. He's coming off multiple seasons that left everyone soured on him. The only team with any interest is LA. I'm sure there is someone in his ear telling him he needs to play well next yr, and often, to get 5 yrs.
I'd much rather take a flyer on Kyrie behaving like a rational actor for nine months than Russ, who is incapable of being a good player, and a 5 yr removed 1st rounder. More likely than not he has entered end-stage Rodman but I prefer that option.
With Durant, he's on a 4 year contract. The list of teams he's interested in really don't have great options. I'd just do a Mitch to Kobe and tell him retire or play in Brooklyn. The trade that hits me as a real possibility is if a dark horse with a "Mitch to Kobe" attitude towards Durant's wishes jumps in. The Orlandos/Memphiss of the world typically can't acquire guys like KD. If one of them but puts together a great package elite young prospects, multiple 1st rounders, pick swaps, I'd listen.
And I tell KD right now I'm listening. If I was Brooklyn, I'd look at the last 3 yrs as an example of what happens when you lean too much into player empowerment.

I am high on payton but wouldnt go that far
Warriors still finished off the grizzlies and beat dallas soundly without him, they definetely will miss him tho
