My condolences. Take comfort in the fact you aren't the only franchise with moronic ownership.

It pretty stunning to think IF the Wizards win 50 games, that Beal will essentially make $1 MILLION DOLLARS for every win.

Or it could be they lose 50 games, and he makes $1 MILLION DOLLARS for every loss....

This team is going to be hard to watch. The ceiling for success is now capped at making the playoffs and quickly exiting.

And it's not just the money. But this is undeniably Beals team. He will dominate all aspects. The players , the coaches, the style of play. On offense the ball will be in his hands 90% of the time while his teammates watch. End of quarters will be watching him dribble down the clock and jacking a contested shot at the buzzer, if he doesn't turn it over. On defense he will be whining to the refs about being breathed on when he shot.

It's all Brad now. All players and coaches will fall in line, their "role" is to be a supportive piece for Brad. No alphas allowed.

Your management should fast pedal Beal to LAkers for one year of westbrook..
Than trade porzingis for picks and expiring contract..that’s the only correct way out of this insanity
And who knows maybe you get lucky in the lottery next summer..

The enthusiasm is off the charts

I can't wait for Leonsis smug comments (if he actually has the balls for an official statement for once).

I could have lived with a max deal, but of-course the Wizards give out the worst max deal to-date:

Beal - 5-year 251M D
Ja Morant - 5-year 193M (up to 231M) A+
Zach LaVine - 5-year 215M A
Devin Booker - 4-year 224M A
KAT - 4-year 224M (6Y 295M) B
Jokic - 5-year 270M A-

I don’t know, KAT may end up just as bad or worse than Beal. It’s so hard to imagine a deep playoff run with him defending the paint, and his D is going to get steadily worse as he gets older. And his deal goes 6 years
Making extreme statements like "only" sounds like there are "no" Jokics in this draft? Jokic is an engine that was drafted in the 2nd round. Always a chance to see diamond dropped by sloppy burgular after a theft.

Honestly, I waffled back and forth on KAT

the only silver lining I can see is that based on what we've seen in the past, even
the most horrible contract is tradable. Of course a severe price is typically paid in the process.

Why do they have to pay Beal the SuperMax? Couldn’t they shave off 20-30 million off the deal?

Yes, we should have shaved 30M off the deal, Beal isn't > Morant, LaVine, Booker

There is no need for a spine when you're living a double bottom-line life!

I'm thinking they overpaid by maybe $10 million a year.

So I have two feelings. First, hardly anybody on the planet thinks Beal is worth as much as he got.

Second, though, even if they overpaid by $10 million a year, that works out to less than 10% of the cap. It shouldn't be crippling.

Ted overpaid by $10 million a year for marketing reasons, loyalty and because he might not have gotten equal value if they'd done a sign and trade. Especially considering that Beal would have as much negotiating power in that sign and trade as the Wizards. Is this the end of the world? No.

I think Tim Legler hates the Wiz more than Dinwiddie and Trez. Which is kind of great. That dude knows how to properly hold a grudge.

that panel---everyone knows the wizards are a joke...how can Tommy and Ted not see this? Or do they see it and just dont care?

Bradley Beal has fallen into the same malaise as the ownership and front office unfortunately.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/sports/2022/07/01/bradley-beal-contract-wizards/

Candace Buckner is not excited about the Beal contract. Calls the contract a $250 million participation trophy and points out that Beal has had no effect on the won/loss record, which has also been terrible. She even links to the replies to the Wizards main twitter account announcing the contract. This was one of the better replies -
