Brogdon is a starter so I'm wondering if someone is going to be traded at this point. They're just very point guard heavy right now

Brad has now been on the job for about 13 months.

If you look at how many trades Brad has made during his first 13 months and compare that to the number of trades Danny made during his last 13 months on the job, it's probably like 15 for brad to like 2 for danny.

So yeah, you might have a point :)

Go Brad!

Brad hates first round picks. LOL.

honestly, if you're rebuilding and have a pick in the top 10, they're great. otherwise, mine as well trade it. these last couple of years, there's really not a whole heck of a lot of difference between the 18th best player in the draft and the 58th..

Sell high on Smart or exploit a market for White.. but everyone else here thinks we need to limit Brogdon’s minutes..

I think it's just right with PP as the 4th PG.

A 3-guard rotation of Brogdon, Smart, and White is great.

He’ll be hurt half the year so it won’t matter.

Have to be happy with this one...a late first rounder and guys who haven`t played in the playoffs...

Now we have some depth!

Lets get Bryant and another veteran minmum shooter and we will be set!

Celtics might have the record number of NBPA officers on the roster. JB, Grant, and Brogdon all sitting VPs I think.

indiana doesn't wants to re-build around Haliburton, Mathurin and Wembanyama,.

This Brogdon trade is an upgrade because Brogdon will now be the 3rd option instead of Smart.

Just ducking around with the trade machine but want to sneak into a deal to get Seth Curry in the worst way. Not sure of Dallas’ full interest in Kyrie but I think Powell is another name we could look at with the TPE

Smart / White
Brogdon

Still need a backup center who could step up in this scenario because you will need minutes if Rob is out. But this offers more lineup possibilities to play smaller if we need to.

We are going to miss Theis during regular season when either RW or Al are out. Great trade today but sorry to see him go because I like him. That said, a younger athletic guy who can rim run and block shots would be nice. Maybe Thomas Bryant can be that guy.

At this point, is there any reason to worry about hard cap? Maybe we can use TPE tontrade for a guy like Mo Bamba for example or another similar big who gets signed to 1-2 year deal.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

<Sigh> Guess I'll have to accept the 2 big lineup is going back in the basement.

You know I really like the fit Gallo has with both big men. I think he will do well with both Rob and Horford.

Nitpicky here, but with another shot creator like Brogdon acquired, I might not have gone as all-offense/no-defense with the MLE as Gallo. Based on our new roster makeup with Brogdon, I think we could have gone with a little more balanced player. Really wish we had landed Otto Porter instead.

BUT like I said, nitpick

Brogdon is very similar to Smart as a player, actually. Just a lot more injury prone.

Way better offensively, similar game but makes more of the shots he takes

Accounting for usage, not really. They shoot nearly the same on both 2-pt and 3-pt shots, but Brogdon takes more 2-pt shots.

lets not pretend like they are similar offensive players. For their career Brogdon has a 56.7% TS, that's slightly above league average. Smart is at 51% for his career. Even over the last two years its roughly 54% for Marcus and 56% for Brogdon at a MUCH higher usage for Brogdon of 25% vs 18% for smart. Smart gets a lot more of his shots created, almost 92% of his threes were assisted last year vs 58% for Brogdon.

Brogdon is also probably better ball hander/passer as well. A higher career ast% (24% vs 21%) and a lower career turnover rate (11% for Brog, 15% for Smart). He's a better "pure PG" than Smart, tho maybe not by like a large margin.

Brogdon is a meaningfully better offensive player, when healthy, than Smart. Full stop. Career 37.6% 3 point shooter. He has a much higher capacity to create his own shot. He's kind of a perfect third offensive guy. Good enough playmaker to run the offense when Tatum is on the bench and help Jaylen keep second units afloat, good enough shooter to space off Tatum.

Yeah but it’s a McCeltic trade - absolute best-case scenario of another team dumping salary, selling low.. I didn’t even have it on my radar.

Receipts lol.

Smahts not going anywhere smh, haven't you all learned! PP or White may be going IMO..... If not roll with what you have. If we had any depth at all, banner 18 would already be in the books! You don't split up the top 7 players from last years run IMO.... Def like Gallinari and Brogdon....two players that have been on the Celts radar for a while

Fin...

Brogdon deserves more than 26 minutes, you’re paying him and White a lot of money for those mpg..

You sure are looking for reasons to crap on a deal in which we got an excellent player for NOTHING.

People get injured. People get into foul trouble. Depth is important. Finding minutes is a good problem to have.
