Besides, Celts can get away with playing Grant Williams at Center in the regular season.
But I agree that another big should be added heading into the playoffs.

Could we be sign and trading him... wait as I'm typing I remember, I don't think you could add his salary with any other player, so never mind.
Love you Korny!!![]()
We can trade him right away. We can't aggregate his salary to make trade math work for 60 days though.
He makes $22.6M. We could trade him and take back up to 125% + $100K of that ($28.35M).
We can trade other players in a deal with him. We just can't aggregate salaries. So we could trade Brogdon and Pritchard for a player making $25M. Because Brogdon alone makes enough to match salaries for that player. We could not, however, trade Brogdon and Pritchard for a player making $30M right now. We'd have to wait 60 days to be able to aggregate their two salaries together to make that trade matching math work.

Not that I'm complaining. Stevens has brought us a Really Good Team, last year, and this year.
Celts had lots of 1st round picks the last few years.
There's really no need for more young players on the roster because this team is already a championship team.
Trading late 1st round picks for players like White and Brogdon is the way to go for the next couple of seasons.
Yeah. But, Teams are not supposed to Trade their 1st Round Picks, 2 years in a row. (We did 3!!!)
But Stevens worked it out, around the right time of year. I think that he got away with a Finagle, though?

The rule is you can't trade 2 future FRPs in a row.
But you can trade your FRP every year.
That's why the Celts got the 2014, 2016, and 2018 picks from Brooklyn.
What teams can't do is trade back to back FRPs, like trading the 2023 and 2024 FRPs.

Re: 100 Pages & Running: The FA/Trade Thread.
Again, for those who want Smart or White traded, after getting Brogdon. That would be a huge mistake.
Keep in mind, Brogdon in his last 5 years has played:
Malcolm Brogdon games played last 5 years:
2021: 36 games
2020: 56 games
2019: 54 games
2018: 64 games
2017: 48 games
You keep all 3. All 3 can play both PG/SG spots. We no longer need to add a wing because Brown will only only be our starting SG but now, also can be our primary back up SF.
I don't think the Celtics will use the $17 million player exception. There's no minutes to go around with our top 9 now.
I feel Boston will get a vet big off waivers or that signs here flat out for the minimum, that wants a chance at a title. Think someone that can give us 8-10 minutes a game when needed.

A team like New Orleans could use a guy like D. White.
Why wouldn't Boston keep White?
Malcolm Brogdon games played last 5 years:
36, 56, 54, 64, 48.
Keep Smart, White and Brogdon. Limit Brogdon's minutes to 25-28 a game. Rest him on back to backs and sit him out at other times just for extra rest.
Smart, White and Brogdon can all play PG/SG. Keep all 3.
Brown can play 20 minutes a game at SG and another 12 at SF.
We need to cut Tatum, Brown, Smart, Horford and Rob's minutes down. They all need to play about 3-6 minutes less than they played last year so they can have fresh legs. The addition of Brogdon and Gallo gives the Celtics that option.
I think Boston will keep 2 spots open for a few days to a few months and wait for buyouts and get 1 to 2 vets to add to the bench for insurance like we did with the 2008 team. More players will want to play for us this up coming season because they want to win, just like in the 2008 season.
They have an overflow of pg's now and White can help them add size. Rob Williams is as injury prone as Brogdon and Al Horford's 36 years old.
Nah not at all. Find another way to get the backup to Rob which is still needed. Smart DWhite Brogdon is an ideal Championship backcourt. Trade Pritch if you must be keep the new 3 guard combo. It'll take these 3 6'4 guards to beat our competition.
That's the Way of the World

You HAVE to have another big because Horford is 36 and the team went really deep in the playoffs. You need as much rest for him as possible. Additionally, Rob also needs as much rest as possible due to his injury. You simply can't get away with having just Grant Williams to back them up.

They'll get very little for Pritchard.

Take a look at how many games Rob Williams has been hurt the last 5 years.

True.
But I don't think it would hurt if the Cs use Grant to backup Rob and Al for a short period of time in the regular season.
Cs can make a move to add another big at the trade deadline.
Or the Cs use the vet's minimum to sign a big right now.

I think that you're right. We likely keep all 3. -- But this does make Pritchard a bit expendable, at PG.
Though he is a spot on shooter. -- I think that it will be challenging to keep 4 PG/SG's.

Boston will get another center in the next few days or even months (by the trade deadline). You need another guy that can play C for about 8-10 minutes a night. I won't trade White for a back up Center. We can get one for the player minimum soon.

Can't imagine there's a market for him, unless he's a throw-in as ballast.
yes, I'm talking about using him like we did stauskas and the rest.

Jayson Tatum will have the voice to say who we sign after he performce as an all-star/superstar should.
Never seen Pierce play that bad, Tatum's shoulder better be really hurt or else he was scared.
Good assessment:
