Thomas Bryant or Blake Griffin would be my choice for a backup big

With the quality of this team and only Rob And Al to protect the lane in the POs, I bet Stevens and Ime shore that up with 1 or more likely 2 quality bigs at a nice bandwagon price. They'll find them. The payroll is large and in it to win it. In fact we're the favorites in places. We need more stong tough vets to win this. Giannis is our main rival right now. We have no one bigger and tougher than him. And they have Lopez Portis and Ibaka. Let's go Celts!

another big man from overseas who is probably good enough to hold down that 3rd string center spot..

This seasons' Israeli League MVP.

Reportedly came in for a workout with the celtics towards the end of last month..

Nothing wrong with having a different opinion - as long as it's done respectfully. It'd be lame if we all agreed on everything :)

Man…upgrading Thies was a “nice to have” now it’s a must have…

Now I’m hooked…can’t imagine Brad doesn’t have a plan here…looking forward to see what’s next. Probably won’t be splashy but hopefully we get a serviceable big.

If that doesn't work then trade for another big at the trade deadline.

That may be what happens bc we may not get past the Bucks with our current frontcourt.

It’s the same frontcourt they just beat the Bucks with, and that was with Timelord missing half the games?

Yep but no Middleton and it went 7 games.
We got lucky at an extent and we had HCA.
Why not improve now what we know we'll need then :D

Navigating back-to-backs and injuries in a 70-win season is gonna be tricky without that 3rd big (no offense to Kornet). On normal days, Cs can still get away with playing both Rob and Al somewhere between 26-30 mpg. Six minutes each half playing together then stagger the rest. Only a few minutes left at center for either Kornet, Grant, or soon-to-be-named 3rd big.

Mike Zarren is a cap god. This move or something similar was premeditated. This was the type of cap maneuvering/gymnastics that disappeared post-IT. I remember times between 2017 and 2020 when we had a boatload of 1sts but didn't have mid-sized contracts to match salaries with. Theis not only served as insurance big for us but the centerpiece in salary-matching.

If there’s one position to “need” with only the vet min to offer, it’s bench big. POBOBS is crushing it. Again. Snagging Bryant would be great but there are any number of credible bench bigs who would do.

You need 2 players backing up Rob and Al bc they play together at different positions with different roles. Gallos role with be much like Horfords. Perimeter shooter, passer, floor spacer. We need the backup for Rob, his minutes and his role of rim protector, off ball shot blocker, lob runner. A player that's an upgrade to Theis, that can play variable minutes in the playoffs.

Top available backup big man (in no particular order, sorry guys, ranking these guys is too hard lol)

-Thomas Bryant
-Chinanu Onuaku
-Jo Lual-Acuil
-Edy (Walter) Tavares
-Duop Reath

I know everyone on here wants Bryant. But I honestly think he might be the 5th best player on this list.

Smart/Brogdon/Pritchard
Brown/White/Hauser
Tatum/Gallo
Al/Grant

If they’re down to vet minimum guys I like Watanabe, Giles, Bryant.. Okogie, Snell..

We know the remaining TPE salary matches: Kuzma, JRich, Marcus Morris, Olynyk, Oubre, Dwight Powell, Crowder, Favors, Jamychal Green, Noel, Plumlee.. and I wouldn’t rule out Cam Reddish or Rudy Gay..
