Giles hasn’t been good since his junior year of high school. Stop this nonsense please lmao

It's kind of astonishing, isn't it? You are exactly right. He's been finished since his second torn ACL, before he even left high school. How do people not understand this by now?

Did you watch his minutes in Sacramento at all

I've watched him since he was at Duke. There's a reason he's not in the league, and it's not that he hasn't had chances. Can you guess why, in a league that scours the globe for talent?

This seasons' Israeli League MVP.

Reportedly came in for a workout with the celtics towards the end of last month..

I'm assuming this is the move they'll do if they can't somehow work it for an established (but probably flawed) NBA big, like Bryant.

Who do you want for the fifteenth spot on the roster? Look at the names out there.

I wanted to keep the core the same and add 2 legit bench guys that can give us 10-14 points a night on a regular basis. If you told me Brad would get us Brogdon and Gallo without giving up any of the core pieces, I would be impressed. Brad expected our expectations. Just hope everyone on the team can stay healthy. If we had this roster a month ago, we would have won #18.

He did it without undue impact on future flexibility, too. Obviously both guys have some flaws (injury for Brig, age for Gallo) but it's a really smart upside play that addresses our biggest needs.

Theis replacement now required, so we don't need to overplay Horf and Rob through the regular season. That's much easier to manage than getting in a playmaking shooter like Brog. Brad is doing great.

Only fair to give Kornet a chance.

Why else give him a new 2-year contract.

I have watched enough of Kornet when Brad was coaching to know he is not good enough to allow Rob and Horford to rest.

The braintrust gave the guy a 2 year deal. They apparently see something in him.

How many of these guys have played their final NBA games?

I like Hal14's willingness to look for out of the box ideas but Edy Tavares isn't leaving Real Madrid where he is a star to move his family across the globe so he can warm the bench and take a pay cut in the process. Come on now.

Kornet getting a second year doesn't mean the Celtics like him that much. Actually the only reason teams offer and guys accept non guaranteed years at the end of their minimum contract is because they know no other team will offer them a NBA contract. Celtics are aware he's a fringe NBA player. The second year just makes it easier to send him out in a trade during next year free agency like the Celtics just did with Morgan, Fitts and Stauskas.

The organization saying the TPE is probably going unused means nothing. Even if they actually want to use it, to come out and say so would only tell everybody Boston is desperate to make a deal and decrease their leverage. The only reason you would announce to the world that you want to use the TPE is to appease the fan base. On a day where the Celtics added Gallinari and Brogdon for very little to a team that just went to the finals, I don't think you need to do that.

If they are inclined to use it, Favors is a good locker room guy, has been in the league forever but is only turning 31 later this month (plus he had the Horford treatment of getting shut down early by OKC so he's gotten plenty of rest). He's taking a roster spot and minutes away from their young guys so I don't think OKC would mind parting with him. Plus he has a salary similar to Theis so you can trade him down the road with a few minimum guys for a 20 million a year guy down the road if you want to.

Mike Zarren is a cap god. This move or something similar was premeditated. This was the type of cap maneuvering/gymnastics that disappeared post-IT. I remember times between 2017 and 2020 when we had a boatload of 1sts but didn't have mid-sized contracts to match salaries with. Theis not only served as insurance big for us but the centerpiece in salary-matching.

Everybody wondering why we signed Kornet.
He CAN play a little bit in the regular season but he's not our 3rd center. This is why they gave Kornet 2 year contract now despite it being more expensive on the tax bill than a one year.
