I’m a bit shocked. Will be interesting to hear if he returned based on fit and potential to play, or if the market just died around him?

I think the MLEs dried up. Really glad to see him back. Hope we can move Goga as we have too many bodies. Cuts coming unless we can get more teams in the deal before it finalizes.

Myles, Jackson, Theis, Smith, Taylor gives us the 5 bodies who can defend the post that I believe are required. Oshae needs to get better at 3. Boston did send a taller player but I don't know a thing about him.

Good to see the Pacers were able to bring Smith back.

He showed some flashes here and is still very young. The exact type of player I want to see here at this point in time. I think it's a great situation for Smith though too. He should be able to get plenty of playing time. Plus, the Pacers don't have a dominate scorer right now so in addition to minutes Smith should get touches.

I like this for the Pacers Smith looked good in his time with the team, the little that I watched. He probably saw a chance to play with the Pacers thin at the PF. I am wondering what year two is? Team/Player option?

Weird cap quirk. We have early bird rights on Jalen. However, we can’t legally sign him to a 1 year deal, or a 2 year deal with an option using hose bird rights. While we’d still be restricted by his whole rookie contract fiasco, look for him to be renounced (technically) and then signed with cap space or the room exception.

Like everyone else I’m pleasantly surprised. It looked to me like RC liked Smith more than Goga last year.

Unexpected. Very pleasant surprise! Loved what I saw of him. I think he saw he had a future with the Pacers. We can now afford to move Goga and maybe even lose Myles, though I don't want to see Turner go. All of a sudden this is a very promising, very young team!!!

Jackson, Brissette, Smith, Haliburton, Duarte, Mathurin, Washington, Taylor, Hinton, Nembhard, Myles if we can resign him next year. I don't know much about the guys we just got from Boston. Only thing that gives me pause is where is the veteran leadership going to come from? That's a LOT of youngsters!!!

I held out hope all along and I am stoked that he saw what I believe is a great opportunity here.

Sure I’m curious if it was because of the $$$$ drying up league wide, or because he liked his new teammates, sees meaningful playing time available, sees coaches who are investing in him rather than stars in front of him, sees opportunity to finally develop his game showcasing his talent. Maybe all of these.

Talent blocked in Phoenix Jalen got meaningful playing time here last season and at times he looked raw, inexperienced, frustrated, lost, happy, excited, and most importantly promising.

My assessment of Jalen is he’s going to go through a huge developmental process this year. That’s one reason he fits so well with this group. Most of the team will be growing their games together.

Last season Pacers stats averages were
53% shooting
63% from 2
37% from 3
76% FT
7.5 total rebounds per game
1 assists
.5 steals
1 blocks
13 points
See why they wanted him back ?

I believe Jalen needs to become more active in the offense movement wise, cutting, assisting, refine his outside shot to be more consistent, work on post moves, and most importantly defense.

He’s showed a really good ability to rebound and be a steady scorer. I’m hoping he becomes an adequate defender.

Love this

He's a great fit for this team. If he can develope into a starter that will be huge for us

For now I don't think we need another 4. We already have Smith, Jackson, Brissett, and Taylor there. I think the only need right now is a true 3

Trade for KD and call it a day

Long term I think Brissett and Taylor need to work on becoming 3's. Brown too. Short term the best true 3 could be Warren.

Warren may be in a bit of a no-man's land. Teams may like his talent and potential, but be scared away because of his injury history.

I would imagine he will be a late signing wherever he goes.

Exactly. Right now he’s probably looking at a MLE contract if not less. I can’t see anyone taking a chance on him for the NTPML of 10 mil.

The million dollar question is does he want to resurrect his career as a Pacer if the Pacers even want him here.

This time the Pacers have been proactive, believing in a player, that few teams value highly and I see a potential star.

Yes, he has a lot to learn, but this is the best way for the Pacers to build a contender.

Spot the neglected and let them shine. It's "cheap" and as proven yesterday, it increases loyalty to our organisation.
