That’s where I would start, finding the team most interested in Ayton and constructing a 3 team trade off of that. Bridges, Cam, picks, etc from the Suns and whatever they get for Ayton.

Well if you see we not interested in Ayton, why even get PHX involved. Woj said Ujiri and Marks working around to find a way. Thats two top five GM's at work here.

Barnes, OG and expiring FVV ain't bad. Deal breaker is them picks.

KD and Kyrie better start looking for place in Toronto is my bet.

At this point I don't think we should settle for anything that doesn't make our team competitive.

Phoenix and Miami should be non starters. Durant can go to hell for all i care.

lol dude is a coward.

Unless we don't get a high end prospect, a serviceable starter and 4 1sts/3 pick swaps, he can sit his ass down. The Nets have no obligation to do anything for his benefit anymore

What would you guys realistically want for Simmons?

Keep in mind that if you trade Simmons, it allows you to get back guys like Bam in a KD trade where previously you couldn't.

Even taking back Bam, Miami's package is lower on my list. I'd still rather ship KD north or to Phoenix. Since Booker is off the table regardless, I see no point in trading Simmons now.

The Punk wrote that because Marks caved and put Kyrie in the drivers seat. Just remember when the dust settles, KD is Kai’s bitch. Something is going down and it’s not what we expect or want. Don’t be surprised if Melo gets signed and you hear names getting rehired to the coaching staff.

DO NOT BE SURPRISED if this was the dirtiest game of CHICKEN ever and come Monday KD and Kyrie are back with the Nets with a few concessions and apologies sorted out over the weekend....

Be careful here...

I actually think something like this makes the most sense

3 team trade:

Phoenix gets KD

Utah gets Ayton + Cam Johnson

Nets get Mitchell + Bridges + all the picks

the harden philly trade has to be instructive here because there's no way Marks ends up taking less than he got there for KD with 4 controlled years. That's just not happening for every reason possible - the player, the timing, the contract, etc.

Harden Phi trade =
1 young all star talent with years of team control
2 fringe starters with 1-2 years remaining
2 FRP

So what are the equivalents here?

Phoenix
Bridges (young all star talent under control)
Ayton (he's more than a fringe starter but not under contract)
Cam or Crowder (this feels like an area of haggling likely going on sort of like Curry vs. Green)
3 FRP+ and swaps (another area of haggling but likely with an easier solution)

Toronto
Scottie Barnes (he's their only guy with 3 years of control so pretty much has to be him leading the deal)
OG or Trent or Siakam (not sure who the 2nd player is but for them to beat the phoenix offer, they may need to include 2 of these guys)
3 FRP+ and swaps

Miami's deal is DOA because there's no young all star under control unless there's a 3rd team swap with Bam.

i expect marks is willing to get in the mud if he doesn't get a package up to his standards since he has way more leverage here than he did with Harden because of his potential opt out.

and on the phoenix side there's urgency because eventually Ayton is going to sign a contract somewhere. maybe that helps bring them other assets to trade but without ayton they are almost definitely including Cam Johnson and Bridges.

the current odds on Bovada are:
Phoenix Suns+190
Miami Heat+450
Brooklyn Nets+550
Toronto Raptors +800

so all that said i continue to agree with Vegas that Phoenix is the destination. everything lines up there. Booker + CP3 + Monty and a franchise that hasn't won before. A chance to go head to head against the defending champs and prove himself.

Miami has to gut their team to get him and Toronto pretty much too so im not sure he'd even want those teams after he sees what the deal would be. Is a big 3 of Siakam, Van Fleet, KD good enough? Even without Kyrie does that roster have a better chance than Brooklyn if Simmons is healthy?

so the only other possibility is that maybe the 24/7 coverage of him as nomad once again hurting his legacy pushes him and Kyrie to reconsider and play 1 last year together? if they were smart they'd probably do that because it's their best chance to win but i think the horse has left the barn.

nets can't take mitchell unless they trade simmons elsewhere.

If that happens I can see Miami taking Kyrie for Lowry Herro Struss plus 2 1sts.

But, I think if it quiet for a day or two that means management is working with Kyrie and KD to have them stay for 1-2 more seasons together here to give it a shot. They will likely change the dynamic some, give Kyrie a heavily incentive laden deal, and bring in another player or two. Marks will have to laid the law down some and there will be a new understanding of what is okay and what isn't.

After the Gobert trade that KD package will be crazy. I bet you guys get at least six picks.

As a raps fan I’m genuinely rooting for you guys to get quality return for Durant after everything these goons put you through. However I will say, there is 0% chance you are getting Scottie Barnes in any trade, I promise that. Most likely it won’t work out with us because of that

I think there is a small chance the Nets run it back.

But, if TOR wants another title and are smart I am sure they will give Barnes who is not a sure fire HOF for likely 3 prime years of KD and title shots each season as long as its just OG Barnes and an ancillary player and picks for KD. There is no way a competent GM turns it down. Barnes isn't Jordan.

Agreed. There's zero reason to trade Simmons.

I'm starting to sour on Phoenix's package. If Toronto offers up Barnes and 4 1sts i would take that in a second.

I want them both gone. Durant is a headcase just like Kyrie is. We'll never win with them

Phoenix' package is imo the strongest. I do think Toronto would put Barnes on the table because it's KD and their core isn't so young. both siakam and vv are 28. KD gives them 2-3 legitimate contending years.

but honestly I don't value Bridges far off Barnes personally, so Ayton is a big extra that i just dont think Toronto can match. i dont think they would do barnes + OG. i dont think marks takes OG + trent without barnes.

Toronto is a great stalking horse in negotiations because the pieces are there but push comes to shove i think phoenix' package is just too hard to top since they were already planning on losing Ayton anyway, possibly for nothing if he signs outright somewhere. Their future picks 2+ years down the road also have a lot more value (imo) since they have a cheap owner and either of CP3/KD could fall off quickly.

Good points.

If we do make the trade with Phoenix, we will have to flip Kyrie for someone who can create their own shot on the wing.

kyrie is the piece i have no idea about. he's going to LAL but whether or not they can spin westbrook idk? id almost rather just take the contract buy him out and keep the picks. LAL and PHO future picks could both be really good.

and this is the 1 year for a while there's no downside if their record isn't great because they are unlikely to have a pick swapped with houston. so maybe consider it a semi-rebuilding or foundation setting year getting Simmons/Bridges/Ayton in sync? Or not if doesn't work out.

if things go south could probably spin off Curry for a 1st at the deadline. O'Neal too if they choose. And play for cap room next year?

We got PHX, Cheatles and Craptors bidding vs each other. Ujiri has a prospect player with high upside, picks probably stand on the way. As Woj said, Marks is listening and working with Ujiri.

Barnes not being natural jump shooter is an issue if we keeping Ben. Other than that, he is high motor, good D, high IQ player who can pass and finish on fast breaks.

Let's not forget Snyder has very good relationship with Marks and willingly walked away from Utah. I'm very high on Snyder as a coach.

I don't see PHX as a real trade partner here. Marks clearly not interested in Ayton because he ends up anywhere but Nets. This makes them outsider who being used as bidding asset.

Return to Brooklyn Nets
