Randle for Hayward. Speak it into existence. Makes even more sense with the Miles Bridges debacle

bro you need draft assets to dump those guys and they are not willing to do that at the moment. which is perfectly fine to me.
I would love to dump Randle as much as anybody, but going into the season with him and look if he plays better then last year isn't the worst idea right now. if there is a possibilty to straight out trade him for an expiring or so, we should be all over it. no doubt.
but overall, the FO did a very good job this offseason. I don't know how people can see it differenty..
sure we didn't get a mega superduper star, but:
- we finally have a good young PG
- we have more future draft picks
- we still have all the young players with potential
- we shipped out 3 vets who have no future with the franchise
We don’t need draft picks to dump Randle & Fournier. Reports were that teams were interested in Randle for similar value, but it wasn’t bad enough where we had to add picks. It’s just that the FO wants more in return and is apparently willing to keep him in order to give him a chance to up his value.
Fournier, for as much as we dislike him (no defense, taking PT from the youth, and wasting the cap we wanted to save for a top FA) has value and selling points (breaking a franchise 3pt record). We won’t have to add picks like Kemba and to a lesser extent Noel since he was packaged with Burks. And in all honesty, at this point, if we absolutely had to, I would toss in 2 more 2nd’s to do it. I just don’t think his value is that low around the league.

Started right, ended wrong. Let's make it up to Pat by constructing a team of winners we can all be proud of.

Knicks twitter and this board would have hated Ewing and the 90s Knicks.

If we ever get to contention level, we need to bring Pat back in some meaningful position to get him a NYK ring. He deserves it

I think they felt Ivey was a player who could impact quickley at a position of high need and not be a 3 or 4 year kind of developmental guy.
Teams try to fall on one side of the fence or the other. On the fence is a team good enough for 32+ wins up to low playoff seed and being a likely first round exit. Those teams are basically either non lotto or fringe lotto and its much harder to score a stud after 10 in the draft (doesn't mean it never happens but percentages drop significantly). We probably belive with another stud player (like D Mitch) we are a 3-5 seed and can potentially go a few rounds deep.
Right or wrong, also they probably believe there is still a lot of untapped potential on the roster to maybe even be better than that.
I have no issue with them trying to go for it. At minumum you are an infinitely more exciting team full of young prime exciting players and have structured your team to be attractive for another stud FA down the road if you have to.

We riot if they dont draft all 5 picks next year.
Whatever they decide it will probably not be until next year unless they REALLY want D Mitchell right now

Re: Knicks Free Agency Frenzy Part Deux
We still have:
Obi
Cam
IQ
Grimes
Sims
McBride
RJ
Mitch
We did not unload a single one of them so far, but we did add a legit PG
They used our journeyman vets and picks to engineer this so far
That doesn’t mean they won’t package some of our youth in a future deal, but I think the implications so far is the franchise may finally be committed to sustaining a pipeline of developing players
Several of our youths are going to have very good and long NBA careers. In the past they would have been gone already, but they’re still here
So things are not the Same Old Same Old as past FO’s so far. There are differences if you stop bitching for a moment and pay attention to things as they actually are
