Should be higher now. Gobert will tilt the market for a while.

On the other hand GoBear makes us a legit title contender. Turner doesn't do that.

Of the big guys supposedly available, I’d rank it like this:

1. Gobert

2. Ayton
3. Turner
4. Capella

During the regular season? Yes. During the playoffs? I don’t think of the lumbering offensive challenged centers are going to make much of a difference. We payed like we were getting a difference making in a championship run. The problem is Gobert has never performed like that.

Gobert has never had this talented a team offensively behind him. KAT is one of (if not) the best shooting bigs in the history of the game. It takes two or sometimes 3 guys to guard him. Then you look at Ant and Dlo and either MCD or Prince who can drill corner 3s and attack the close out. Gobert might be offensively challenged, but he is ultra efficient at the rim, and with this lineup he will feast.

My best guess is it will be Ayton and Bridges for Durant.

"**** them picks"

It seems that Tim said

We can say a lot of things about him...but not that he hasn't "ball" and that he doesn't want to leave his mark in our organization...
"...I want to compliment him, we all expected that he would take up the game, we have prepared the plan race on him, we have doubled. And, as usual, he did what he wanted..."

Connelly built a powerhouse in Denver and he's only been on the job in MN for a few weeks. Can we wait on results before we call for his head? This thread is embarrassing.

I think this thread is good for a laugh. Only 1 or 2 people probably taking it seriously.

Is the Gobert trade officially a trade? Could either side of it back out if they wanted?

My guess is they are pending medical clearance.

I recall there is some trade window when teams can negotiate and agree to trades, but can't turn them in until the end of the window. Are we possibly in that time right now?

I'm guessing a Tweet. I don't Tweet. Do you have a link?
Edit: I found this

Rudy Gobert confirmed on his social networks that he's leaving Utah Jazz, his team since his NBA debut in 2014, where he "grew up in as a man and as a player".

The French international said goodbye to Utah Jazz supporters, whom he left to everyone's surprise as part of a transfer to the Minnesota Timberwolves. He had been playing there since 2014.

“Utah!!! I was just a kid from France when I got here 9 years ago but I felt embraced and supported since day one. I’ve grown as a man and as a player before your very eyes and I'm thankful for every single moment.

Utah and its community will always have a special place in my heart. Thank you! The journey continues… Much love," wrote the 30-year-old Olympic silver medalist.

Thanks again. I found it as you were posting it. Anything with audio and video or just audio?

Cool I'll set a reminder for 3 years from now when we still haven't made the WCF

It's really not.

4 FRP (really 5 because of this year's) with only one having any protection, plus a swap, plus a bunch of expiring contracts and/or cheap useful players.

Utah fans are super happy , you know this is horrible.

It's like Utah OWNS Connelly, TC must be mormon or something....

It's been a few hours and this is still a horrid trade. I honestly don't think we'll make it to the WCF once in the 4 years Gobert is here.

Ok who’s going to then?

The Warriors, Clippers, Memphis, New Orleans, and potentially Dallas are all still major threats over the next 4 years. The Thunder too in a couple years. Landscapes change so fast in the NBA, and maybe right now we look like we might crack it, but it's all to be wary of. Which is why you don't trade 5 picks for one player.

People just think this move is horrible because of Timberwolves past and their lack of luck. But times are changing ,sorry wolves haters. Get used to Timberwolves in the playoffs and hosting.

Maybe, but another way to phrase it is we traded 5 picks to get a real chance at contending. Those picks could have been used to get multiple role players, but Rudy is a top 10 in the NBA. He SHOULD thrive here. This is the most talented team Rudy has ever played with and should improve over next year. Forbes and Nowell will out play Beasley. Dlo should return more to his career numbers and rebound from a bad season. Ant should be healthy this year (we hope.) I could go on. We are just better than we have ever been. The downside is the future, but we did this for the present.

Moreover, how does Dallas or GSW or Memphis or anyone guard a lineup or Dlo, Ant, MCD, KAT and Gobert. Everyone is worrying about our defense. Even if we struggle to defend with this lineup, no one can defend against us either. I am not so sure we don’t win a shoot out where we control the glass and attack the passing lanes.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
