Remember these are real people with emotions and lives off the court. How you want them to process being traded for the first time is irrelevant.

I'm going to think of it this way...
I'd prefer to get a guy who was not any trouble at his former team. There was no I want out or the situation was being manipulated things like we had with DDV.
There was no team Bagley.
No I'm better than this guy or we don't get alongs.
We got a guy who has improved a bit every year, that is under long term contract.
I'd be worried if he was thrilled to be out of Atlanta. Sure he may not want to be here today. But I'd prefer him to be upset after his trade.

Ya the whole reading into his tweet thing didn't make sense to me. He doesn't strike me as that type of guy either.City of Trees wrote:

The future first is going to limit some trade mobility. If I overlook this part of the trade, Kevin Huerter is a good get, imo. He may not push the needle much but he is someone that the Kings can use for sure.

If Monte is done with major moves this off season, which I don't think he is, Huerter needs to make a leap. I would not be surprised to see him do so.
The team scoring was slightly down last season, so perhaps it goes up again, particularly with Sabonis. As the roster stands right now is the below realistic?
Fox - 28
Huerter - 18
Barnes - 14
Murray - 14
Sabonis - 18
Davion - 14
Holmes - 8
Monk - 16
Davis - 10
Lyles - 3
Metu - 3
Len - 2

148 PPG
This means the Kings will have the greatest scoring team of all time.
Last season, the T'Wolves averaged 115.9 PPG -- 1st NBA.
Way too optimistic lol

That's not how averages work.
That's if players don't miss any games. which they certainly will. If everyone was in their same role for 82 games and the minutes were the same each game, then yes it's too much.
But when Fox misses some games, Davion's scoring increases etc, etc

So explain what you mean in your last post then.
Are these averages or what?

Yes. Season averages. Below are the games played last year for this squad. While there are some outliers with injury like Davis/Holmes and maybe even Fox, I think it's pretty reasonable to assume everyone will miss some time.
Fox 59
Heurter 74
Barnes 77
Murray NA
Sabonis 62
Davion 75
Holmes 45
Monk 76
Davis 30
Lyles 75
Metu 60
Len 39

Still the logic does not work. There are 5 players on the court and there are still only 48 +OT minutes a game. If some one misses a game, somebody else actually plays gets more minutes and that helps their average?

Re: Kings trade for Kevin Huerter
Hello Kings board. Longtime Atlanta Hawks fan here and a big time fan of Kevin Huerter. I wanted to tell you what you're getting.
He is a better defender then he gets credit for. He plays SG next to Trae Young or SF next to Bogdanovic (whose had knee problems since we took him from you). He's always tasked with playing the best ball handler when on the floor to hide Trae or Bogi. You cannot look at his splits at all when on the floor with either of those players.
Kevin will drive you crazy with his 3 point shooting. He'll drill 2 with tight defense and a hand in his face and then miss 2 straight wide open looks. But he can shoot. He is not a rhythm shooter. He's a hit or miss shooter but his numbers remain consistent.
He is a gifted passer. In the games where he plays and Trae doesn't, he's always got 6+ assists. Kevin played the point in high school where he won Mr. Basketball for New York. He is a control ball handler who uses his size keep people on his hip, get to the free throw line, rise up and hit a mid ranger. His fatal flaw here is he never attacks the rim. He always goes to the side of the rim or top of the paint. Its very different than Trae's game and Kevin would do this often to get a good possession and give Trae a possession off.
Kevin's ppg will go up with the Kings. The Trae Young offense depends on the high pick n role, pick n pop with the bigs. When you have Young scoring 29 ppg, Capela getting 11.1 ppg and Collins getting 16.4 ppg, and Bogi being allowed to shoot whenever he wants with Trae on the bench (15.7 ppg), it is very hard for Huerter and Hunter to get their shots. I will point out, Huerter had a higher EFG% than Bogi, Young, Gallo and Hunter.
Kevin will turn the ball over when inbounding. You shouldn't let him do that.
Kevin is a revered teammate. Everyone loves him, he's a great interview and he's known for volunteering to board so other players can get up shots. He's a "whatever you need coach" kind of a guy. Your locker room just got better. If he plays aggressive, he's got 20ppg potential. His floor is 10ppg. GL this year and I'll be pulling for you guys whenever you don't play us. Kevin is a class act and was well worth a first round pick.

When someone misses a game, let's take this past season, Fox misses 23 games.
Davion would normally average 9 points off the bench, but he received a bigger role and as a starter he averaged 18, hence he averaged 11.5 for the season.
Are you saying he didn't average 11 points per game?

Thanks for the info.
My only concern is, that you just replace Trae with Fox and Capela with Sabonis. Not suggesting these guys are similar in styles, completely different. Just that Fox/Sabonis will be in P&R a lot more than what Fox did prior to Sabonis arriving and his usage is around 29 compared to 34 for Trae. I'm hoping the Kings don't just use Heurter as a spot up shooter.
On the flip side, I wonder what your thoughts are about Kevin moving without the ball? Because Sabonis will have the ball a lot as well and anyone that moves well without the ball will get free looks or easy lay-ups.

He should. Atlanta's offense is the high pick n roll which effectively cuts the floor in half....not alot of movement by the wings because they can't encroach the lane. When you realize how strong/big Hunter is but he gets less than 4 boards a game, it shows how little the wings go to the lane in that offense. This should be different in Sactown for Huerter. He can/does cut and can get his own shot...it just won't be flashy. Take a look at his game 7 vs Philly where he had to score and put up an easy 27. That's who he should be. Big thing is he's not going to draw fouls so he has to be efficient when given opportunities.

I don't get it. Think he is simply agreeing with the notion that make yourself someone that handles hard well?
Excellent speech by Kara Lawson BTW.
