If what is the only trade? Westbrook straight up? Then you're paying more money for a player that you don't want.

The question is what the compensation should be. I think the Nets have more leverage to ask for 2 1sts than the Lakers do to try and get it done for 1. There's a much bigger consequence to the Lakers walking away from a deal than the Nets.

Westbrook for Kyrie straight up is not possible. The Nets have to include Harris or Curry.

Ok? How does getting rid of either of those guys for nothing help them?

Yeah couldn't quite follow his logic there. The Nets don't actually have to accept anything from us.

Joe Harris has 2 years left at almost 40 Million and is coming off major injury. Westbrook massive 47 million expiring for Kyrie and Harris is a good deal for the Nets given their situation. If they get a pick you should be jumping over the moon.

this is a horrible deal. Kyrie is still a star when he's on the floor, check the numbers. Westbrick is a negative on the floor. Joe Harris is a top 5 shooter that can do other things. I don't know how ya can't see the Lakers are making out like bandits here. Lebron and Kyrie is a way better fit and he's probably the only one that can talk some sense into that nutcase.

The numbers look shiny 'when' he plays. But has Kyrie impacted winning in anyway since leaving Cleveland. He has won 2 playoff series in the 5 seasons since he left Bron. He is not a winner and will destroy your team chemistry while also being on a 1 year deal where he will leave 99.9% if you trade for him. He is also 30 now and injury prone. The player I just described is not worth much. Lakers are the only team desperate to take Kyrie because of the massive failure that was the Westbrook trade. They also have Bron and coach Phil Handy who Kyrie respects.

Kyrie has done more since leaving cleveland than Westbrick has done since KD left. MVP of the league has got bounced in the first round how many times? He couldn't win with Harden, he's literally with thee best player and they had a horrible season with one of the worst records  dude is not a winning player at all. Lebron literally won a ring with Kyrie, Wetsbrick comes to town and they can't even make the play in. Your point is invalid. Kyrie is miles better than westbrick. Then add a top 5 shooter to go along with him, this is highway robbery. This trade isn't close to being fair in value.

You can always hold on to Kyrie and just let him walk for nothing in the offseason. Lakers aren't going to act desperate this time and are prepared for that with max cap space next offseason. You can't really fault the Lakers in this situation for setting their salaries/cap up like this and trying to improve their team.

I'm perfectly fine with keeping Kyrie and letting him suffer at home for the year. Lakers are desperate, lebron time is ticking and street clothes is not going to make his life easier. We all seen how last year played out with westbrick there, they are desperately trying to get rid of him. I highly doubt lakers want to waste another year of lebron, he might end up being the next one asking for a trade lol

Trade Powell, Hardaway Jr, and Ntilikina for Irving, Markus Cuban.

I hate this argument. Honestly this is great for the league. Drama brings clicks and views to places like ESPN and brings social media engagement during the off-season.

Lakers with LeBron, AD, Kyrie are filthy good. Best trio in the league.

An old man. A guy made of glass. A malcontent.

Maybe on paper it could be the best trio but the reality is that there is just as much potential for this to blow up as there is for it to succeed. Remember not too long back when people were declaring KD/Kyrie/Harden the best trio and they end up playing 16 games together.

Yeah if I’m the Nets I demand at least two picks and a swap. Getting one pick back wouldn’t be worth the hassle of dealing with Westbrook for a whole year. Just send Kyrie home and trade him for a better offer.

If the nets rush to make this deal, then they’re dummies.

For the people saying they have no leverage, just feed him 20 shots a night for the first 30 games amd watch the offers improve from this lacklustre offer.

Can’t believe the lakers are trying to lowball them with the second future pick AND asking for curry.

Seriously, reality is Lakers have even less leverage.

I'd imagine not many teams are willing to take on Irving anymore. At least with Westbrook, he'll play. That's an upgrade in a way for the Nets lol.

They are a joke. Sold their soul for the second time in 10 years, but this time let two of the biggest temperamental divas run the show completely unchecked. Then when they try to undo their enabling ways, it blows up in their face.

Why would Brooklyn do this? You would rather Brooklyn lose Irving for nothing then gain assets? Brooklyn doesn't give a sh*t about sticking it to the lakers.

Dallas is a team who should absolutely go after Kyrie IMO, but there's no way Brooklyn would take back THJ.

The Pau Gasol trade was the biggest croc. Kobe couldn't win on his own, so he bitched and moaned until he got a super team for pennies on the dollar.

folks still crying about this?

Absolutely ridiculous, what is wrong with the Nets, if the Lakers add Kyrie I'm definitely not watching this joke of an upcoming season

Ok this makes sense, it's better then the "don't trade Irving to the Lakers because I hate LeBron and the Lakers" narrative.

Lakers aren't as desperate as you and other fanbases hope which is why they've been reluctant to include any future draft compensation along with Westbrook's expiring. Lebron understands the situation and he's continued to be one of Westbrook's and AD's biggest supporters through all of this (even when Westbrook deserved the criticism). He's publicly stated the biggest detriment this past season was AD's injury who has had all this time to recover.

Lebron will likely sign a 1+1 extension after this year and if this trade doesn't go down you tell me which team will set themselves up better for Lebron to compete next offseason when Westbrook's $47 mil expires providing max cap space for the Lakers with AD already signed? If anything Lebron may leave in 2 seasons only IF the Max Cap Space season (2023) somehow doesn't go as planned and when Bronny becomes draft eligible.
