Im fine with the Mcgee signing. We never know what happens behind the scenes or if his agent negotiated for a better commission or kick back. These things happen in any part of the world so it's not a foreign concept for the NBA. Fans take things at face value forgetting what happens underneath.

I want to wait the end of the FA but the we need desperatly another ball handler and another wing(or Green need to step up).

I think the team is okay now. If Luka and Dinwiddie play 30 minutes each and Dinwiddie plays 10 mins of PG the time Doncic is seated, while THJ covers for the 10 minutes of SG play when Dinwiddie is resting, it evens out.
The wing player is interesting. This will show if Nico is serious on developing Green and Hardy or taking a finished product route and sign someone like TJ Warren.

How many spots we got left? And what u expect we sign for the vet min that is better then green and hardy? People cant complain about not having cheap pieces and then want to sign the sterling browns of the world at the end of the bench and not delelop the young guys to become those pieces

Nobody but Nico Harrison and Cuban thinks Sterling Brown would have been useful.
Developer young guys is good for lottery or no where team, it's supposed that we contend.

And Powell is a wasted roster spot(and brings bad luck), cut him if we can sign an useful player.

we have to develop younger guys to avoid overspending and getting trapped in bad situations

No rush and leave the roster room open for the final spot, until the best opportunities come to us. I dont want to see the forced waive of someone and his deadweight money in order to sign another player, which has been happening for years........... Also, keep Powell's expiring contract, in case we need salary matching for a bigger trade. Only consider to cut him or dump him to lottery team at trade deadline next year to avoid luxury tax, when we are assured no better opportunities are in front of us.

The way McGee should be used is in limited minutes against opponents that dominate the mavs inside. Even on the Suns, his minutes decreased in the playoffs. And the mavs seem to be again bucking against the small ball trend. It's a trend for a damn reason, it works. Mcgee should get half of what he's signed for and no player option.
The new FO is really starting to disappoint me...
He would've went to Milwaukee if the Mavs didn't sign that deal. 3rd year is a player option, so it's really about 2yrs 15mill.
Just because you start the game big doesn't mean they end the game big as well
You think he's not going to exercise that option? He's probably going to be washed by then. He won't get 7m on the market at 38yo.
Who cares? He will be an expiring contract that will be great filler at the trade deadline in three years. Powell is a potential one now so to me the Mavs have done well.

He said that the 3rd year is a player option, so it's really just 2 years. I said "It's 3 years, it's close to a sure thing that he will exercise that option". I simply corrected the assumption that it was 2 years.
And it could matter. It's one more year. He could have been an expiring next year.

I like McGee but this is his second most high contract signed in his life. Not a great bargain.

The guy looks better each year. Even as a veteran. Certainly better than what we saw back in 2015.
He did well with Chris Paul. I think we can expect the same here in Dallas. I’m fine with what we paid, with that production. With the cap increasing each year, this deal will be fine. I like the revamped front court. I want to see what we can achieve defensively.

He will play good for sure, even Powell seems an NBA player with Luka (at least in RS).
McGee is a Powell supercharged.
I said multiple times that i don't care about money, but the TMLE was the best contract we could offer.
Maybe Biyombo (or someone like him) for the min and a wing for the TMLE could be a better option.
But we will see.

I dont even think they are considering a wing anymore. Dallas wing depth has Josh Green playing like 5 mins per game. The new wing player has to be so good that he starts over DFS or Bullock, or he splits bench minutes with Green. The most economical way to go about it is to just give Green the minutes and see how he develops.
Developing rookies take time and patience. On one hand you have fans complaining about not having a young core to develop, on the other hand you have fans wanting to trade for finished products every season.

I think you are right, they are forced to hope that Green will become an NBA player.
And at this point they see Frank a 3&D wing than a PG.

It will suck for Mavs fans but GSW or the Clippers will come out of the West next season. Mavs have little to no chance. They are not on top of the pecking order. Yet, at least. With GSW playing the way they are, everyone else will be playing for 2nd place for a while. Up until the older stars retire or at least slow down.

Great teams split TMLE. As always, the Mavs can't get top-tier players via FA. Mostly, trading for disgruntled players or headcases alongside players without true positions or coming from major injuries from FA. Since the lock out, the Mavs can no longer take on salary to get talents. The Mavs has to do better job in scouting and training. Otherwise, it is super difficult to build a team.

Yes GSW is juggernaut with an incredible deep roster, but they are old and everything can happens.
Obviously if their young guns like Moody and Kuminga will step up then is a no match for the Mavs.
Clips are an enigma, too much players often injuried but with full Power they are scary for sure.
I can only hope Wood can put us in the contending zone.
Or maybe a break out season by THJ.

McGee was signed to 17/3 contract, Hardy to 3+/3
