They also need to sign a floor spacer big.

I think Beverley is almost a shoe-in to sign assuming he gets bought out.

I'm skeptical Ainge helps the Lakers. Probably ships him to Boston for free.

I like this for both teams, but hate it for Russ as a longtime fan (I know he's a shell of himself). Brooklyn could get a massive expiring and maybe some picks, to go with Simmons and whatever they get for KD, which won't be a small return. Kylie is a big upgrade at this point for LAL, and their core hardly played together last year. If they somehow did this year they could be a threat.

I agree.

Trading Kyrie for the corpse of Westbrook is about the only thing worse than not trading Kyrie at all. Downgrade in talent with zero financial incentive, and no return on potential draft assets from LA for what.. 4 years? Marks can not be that dumb. Unless there's a 3rd or 4th trading partner.. just can't see it as a 2-team trade.

Love him or hate him Irving is an undeniable talent. As your 2nd option your team is always a chance to win ball games.

Just keep it simple and think about it from a basketball perspective. Spacing. Think about what the sharpshooters, Kyrie and Harris/Seth, will allow the Lakers to do in terms of spacing for LeBron and Davis.

Even if Kyrie doesn't play, they're still going to gain Joe Harris or Seth Curry.

The Lakers didn't have any shooting before this and now we're talking about them acquiring two world class shooters.

That's infinitely better than where they were with Russell Westbrook.

I’m still not seeing it- the lakers will be better but no where near a championship team. If everyone healthy Mavs, clippers,GSW,suns, wolves, nuggets,Memphis, Boston, bucks and Miami are definitely better than these lakers plus Kyrie…

This roster with kyrie will be the 3rd best team in California let alone the nba…

Plus lakers gonna depend on a guy that says basketball isn’t his top priority or even second… but at least kyrie got hooping in top 5 priority- but he can do that in an empty gym and doesn’t care what managment or the team thinks- Kyrie keeps telling teams the truth and they keep ignoring it. At least Westbrook is going to play and care. Kyrie gonna Boston and nets the lakers and the rest of us gonna watch the slow motion train wreck… while the clip show takes LA smh

AD has done his thing- has his ring… he is physically and mentally and appears to be emotionally done. Maybe he isn’t but it sure looks like a guy satisfied
With a body that hurts all the damn time. AD is the champion Andrew Luck… exactly why should he keep living in pain when he rich and young… plus he has a ring. AD isn’t ever gonna be in the top 10 like Duncan and that’s fine, he has proven himself… which is why he not only doesn’t touch a ball for 3 months.. HE also tells the world I haven’t touched a ball… after he spent most of the basketball season NOT ABLE TO PLAY… why does he need a break from touching the ball… lol oh cause F this painful sport! Silly lakers fans…

And Lebron is telling the lakers I’m out with my son gets to the league… while padding his all time stats… and Lebron is legit the only reason to watch the lakers cause he is a genuine genius physical god that still works hard and tries - but he can’t drag a bunch of ‘half in’ guys to the championship. And other than stats and bronny WHY does Billionaire Bron need to waste his time with kyrie and ad-

But good luck the whole world said Westbrook wouldn’t work but lakers went all in there… now who sees kyrie being a whole new guy because he is in LA? Lebron gonna make him come to work when AD will be hurt and over his house watching Netflix and planning murals while Lebron is playing the clippers and John Wall is the 3rd or 4th option and PG13 gonna be the second option and Kawhi is back playing half speed because he has a better coach and team…

Take Kyries word… he doesn’t care about ball… and take AD non-verbal hints… he is done… get Lebron real help

Kyrie and Joe Harris for Westbrook is the neutral deal for both teams. If Kyrie is threatening to pout and sit for the season trading him along with Harris saves the Nets some money and gets them a massive expiring contract. The Nets shouldn’t care anyways if they’re intent on trading Durant. Westbrook can either be moved at the deadline as an expiring or be part of a 3 team deal. For the Lakers they get their man and shooting without giving up any additional picks. I’m a Lakers fan, but if the Nets add Curry they should be relegated to the G league and as someone who doesn’t even want Kyrie, the Lakers adding picks to this deal is absolute malpractice.
the Lakers are gaining much more, losing nothing with an important upside.
The Nets would be fools to not squeeze them

I'm not convinced Utah buys him out, but if he does the Lakers are probably going to be high on his list.

There is no avenue for them to move. It’s not like Jerry West was on the Grizzlies or that the agent can negotiate for mortgaging the Laker’s future. The Laker already sold their soul (their future drafts) to Lebron and the only thing they can exchange is Anthony Davis. Anything else is just delusional thinking.

But to what end? Honestly is this just to get marginally better but not compete for a ring while in LBJs last productive years (if we can say that considering he avg 30 last year)... seems like the Lakers with Kyrie are not a contender...if anything try to get Durant lol - if both are unrealistic at least go after the one player looking for a trade that would put them in contention

That's amusing. Shams listed both the Sixers and Mavs as potential suitors for Kyrie Irving, and I think it was within an hour local beat writers already threw a wet blanket on that idea. There's no market for Kyrie Irving outside of the Lakers.

Who else wants Kyrie and would give anything up for him? If there are no other options besides Russ and unprotected future picks the Nets are better off taking the picks.

Sounds about right it’s been awhile since the league tried to gift the lakers another star.

Just driving the price down on a broken property by the local beat writers. The Lakers has influence on major media, but cmon man (in my Charles Barkley voice) no one is trading for Westbrick other than to get rid of long term bad contract. Use some common sense and don’t fall for media distractions.

Just stahp. Lakers don't have influence on local beatwriters. Let's not play the victim card here.

You misread what I said, the beat writers are driving down the price of Kyrie in a trade while mainstream media is trying to make the Lakers trade happen which has no way in hell of happening.

Nice conspiracy theory. If Kyrie Irving had a real market, we'd be hearing about it. Instead, we've only heard about the teams that aren't interested.

It’s not a conspiracy theory. It’s the price point. More toxic players have been traded.

Why would someone shopping for a car, jump up and down with interest in front of the salesman?

Honestly, I don't think we've seen a player with such discrepancy between their on-court value and their trade value like we have with Kyrie Irving.

Yea and it's a great deal for the lakers because if his off the court nonsense does ruin the team they can just let him walk next year anyway. That's why the nets should push for as much as they can because this is a really great deal for LA.

I’m hearing rumblings that this trade is getting done today. Lakers are trying to gather second round picks from a 3rd team for Austin Reaves. This will land the Lakers Kyrie and Curry instead of Kyrie and Harris. Pelinka is trying to keep THT for flexibility in future trade (Tht+Nunn for Hield)

G - Irving/vet
G - Hield/Curry
F - James/Walker IV/Brown Jr.
F - Davis/JTA/Johnson
C - Jones/Gabriel
G - James | Rondo
G - Bradley | Caruso
F - Green | Caldwell-Pope
F - Davis | Kuzma | Morris
C - McGee | Howard
