Does Dallas seem like it should be more of a FA attraction?
Great city, charismatic owner, usually good teams contending or on the fringe. Even going back to the 00’s era cant remember a lot of notable FA signings.
Cap space is a problem of course, but im surprised one of these years a marquee FA hasnt wanted to go to Dallas with Luka and Dirk and the history there. Never really hear rumors linking any to them either.

I think Cuban isn’t as well liked around the league as everyone thinks. Even when they had cap space they didn’t attract top free agents, unless you consider Chandler Parsons a top free agent.

Very successful franchise, keeps a great player on the roster, owner very visible and player friendly. Cool and big city. Just seems bizarre nobodys ever linked to Dallas. I’d want to at least check it out and give them a pitch meeting if I was player, but must be some things they know we dont.

Cap space is the problem with this team, which is why they're strugging with getting Free Agents. I think as long as Luka is playing for them, they will be good players willing to join Dallas.

You would think they might be but yea historically just hasn't been the case. Similar to Philly.

Re: Does Dallas seem like it should be more of a FA attraction?
It should. Cuban knows how to run an organization, and he had the great sense to secure Luka at all costs. Hiring Kidd was a big win, trading Kristaps was a great move. Luka is destined to be a top 5-15 player ever at the rate he's going, and he's only getting better. He did battle with Clips without another star. Got to the conference finals this year. Luka's team won two games without him in the playoffs. KD should be looking squarely at Dallas. It's got basically everything. He just couldn't act like the fickle, pathetic whimp he has been over the years, since it's Luka's squad and Cuban isn't a weak-willed pushover.

The Bullock disrespect in this post.
Considering they threw a max to get Harrison Barnes he should probably be on that list too. Especially if you list trash like Jordan
Basically what happened is under Donnie Cuban kept clearing max space for failed chases at max guys and then throwing a max at someone who wasn't worth a max after that failed instead of aiming for singles and doubles like Bullock and McGee. I also suspect Cuban has driven some guys off (ever heard of the cartoon they made for Dwight Howard?)

They get linked to a lot of players when they don’t even have cap space sometimes, makes this perception that they miss out get exaggerated. Miami is the same way, gets meetings with FA when they don’t even have cap sometimes.

For the most part, NBA FA for superstars is boring. When it does get less boring, it always involves the same 3-4 teams.

I feel confident they'll be the team to get Kyrie Irving...

The fact that Dallas is in Texas is going to turn some free agents off because it's a very conservative state, and Dallas is thought of as particularly conservative versus some other cities in the state. Kind of a similar issue with Utah and they've long had problems with race and recruiting.

Don’t let the presence of having a happy-go-lucky superstar for two decades fool you. The Mavs have had a toxic workplace culture for years. Add a long tenured coach in Carlisle who was notoriously demanding, and you have a franchise that isn’t exactly a sexy location to sign.

Big cities aren't ever conservative. Even Dallas. I know it gets hard because the NFL always shows the stockyards during Cowboy games, but Dallas isn't a bunch of dip-chewing cowboy rednecks lol. Tons of NBA players who played only a short time in Dallas have retired here.
They are like every team that isn't LA or Miami, they have no geographical advantages, they have rarely had cap space and when they did Dirk was too old or Luka too young.
