After the Gobert trade is pretty unlikely we see a KD trade. The starting point is Brown/Rob/White + picks.

Not really. Trade value is not linear. If KD is twice the player Gobert is, that doesn't mean he will command 10 first round picks because no one has that to pay. There is a diminishing return for superstar trades and that point is either impossibility or where the team trading for the superstar will suck afterwards. The Lakers got the AD trade done without including Kuzma.

Better hope we don’t see a follow up tweet involving the words “Durant”, “Davis” “expand”.

I've changed my opinion on this, you guys. KD is the better player but Jaylen is too good to lose for a guy who's currently murdering an entire franchise in cold blood and could do the same thing to us.

I've always liked KD. But man, he's doing the Nets so dirty. They bent over backwards and made it the Brooklyn Durants. Paid him to not play and rehab from injury in his first year there. Brought in Kyrie for him. Brought in the corpse of Deandre Jordan. Fired their coach. Lost a bunch of assets with Harden coming and then going. All to win titles with KD.

Now he has 4 years left on his deal and he wants out. All in support of Kyrie I guess? It's just messed up. And weird.

It's all fun and games until KD wakes up one day and decides he wants to leave. And then we'd have no KD, no Jaylen, no draft picks (because we traded them for KD), a disgruntled Tatum, and a massive disaster on our hands.

I'm out. Our team is a contender as is and we still have room to grow and improve.

KD quit on OKC after it lost game 7 of WCF to join the 73 win team that barely beat them. I simply never want that guy on my team.
"I think the criticism's stupid," Stevens said. "So I don't care. I'm with Jaylen (Brown) on that. Those two had achieved more than most 25 and 26 year olds ever had. I'd rather be in the mix and have my guts ripped out than suck."

And then immediately went to three finals and won two of them. I simply want that guy on my team.

Masai will do it. But we can still beat that Raptors team post-trade. Who will they have left... FVV-Barnes-KD?

If it’s not us, I hope it’s the Raps.

Why? Not saying I disagree and haven't thought about it much other than a basic hope that he goes west.

I think we’d still be better than them, and the Suns or Heat with KD is something I don’t want to deal with lol.

Fair enough, it all depends on what these teams (or us) have to include in terms of good players to get it done I guess.

I don't know how Heat do it without making them not any better than the Raps would be and while Suns would be seriously dangerous, they will still have a stronger west to deal with and CP3 and KD being on injury watch.

I agree 100. I don’t want anything to do with KD. Good luck finding a contender that will pay him till he’s 38 lol. Stevens won’t be that stupid.

I think any form of the Heat with KD and Butler on it is better than any possible version of the Raptors with KD.

Butler is a perfect player next to KD, has all the defense, all the drive, all the rim attacking, all the passing to perfectly complement him. He's even a leader and will take on that role and responsibility so KD can sit in the background and quietly put up a suffocating 30 ppg on 50+% shooting like he did with Curry.

Butler and KD is a death sentence. And that's not even getting into they'll also have Bam in that case.

Versus KD with CP3 and Booker is a very bad scenario but at least then we can hope CP3 breaks down. That at least has some reasonable "out" so to speak kind of like with the Nets you had the "out" of Simmons or Irving suffering mental breakdowns or in Irving's case another injury.

With the Raptors they'll never collapse like the Nets would nor have injury concerns but simply... a Fred Van Fleet and KD even with Siakam... those are stoppable players around KD. A talented team for sure but no sure fire allstars, just fringe all-stars. FVV is great but is always going to be 6'1" and average athletically. Siakam is also very good but didn't make the all-star team last year for a reason and did disappear in 2020.

If I have to choose between a Heat world, a Suns world, or a Raptors world... the Raptors are the only trio that doesn't seem like a sure fire championship favorite pending injuries. And in fact I'm not sure overall a Raptors team even post an OG + Barnes trade for KD is really more talented than our team is today. And there's just not that many free agents left to ring chase to change that fact.

I think a KD, FVV Raptors is beneath us. And a KD, Siakam, FVV Raptors is merely joining the level of the Celtics, MIL, 76ers tier of teams.

I guess what I'm saying is I don't see how Nets accept any Heat trade for KD without Butler unless they agree to swap Bam for Simmons (if allowed). With another team involved maybe.

There are too many other teams that have much better players (plus picks) to offer than a selection of Lowry/Herro/Robinson.

So my point was that I don't think Miami will get KD while keeping Butler and therefore aren't a major worry.

If they did manage it while keeping Butler and Bam then yes that is a nightmare to deal with.

In order of having the best offer (without having to move Ben Simmons and assuming Nets want to remain competitive while still having the picks), I'd rank the talked about teams as follows:
1) Ingram + Jones + picks
2) JB + White + picks
3) Barnes + OG + Trent + picks
4) Ayton + Bridges + picks
5) Herro + Robinson + Lowry + picks
6) Maxey + Tobias + picks
7) Wiggins + Wiseman + Kuminga + picks

These are made up offers obviously. Dunno if other FOs are willing to put those on the table. For the Cs, remove JB and we're at the bottom of desirability.

Booker, Zion, and Bam are all ineligible to be traded to the Nets as long as Simmons is there. If they were, they'd move up the rankings.

You think Siakim is untouchable?

Also shouldn't we be adding Tatum to the list of untouchables with Simmons there?

Nah, you can add him in there instead of OG. Just positionally Siakam is closer to Barnes so they might prefer OG (who is also younger). I think it's close between the Cs offer and Raps offer depending on how one views Barnes (I personally haven't see much of him but basketball nerds drool over him).

That's correct. Tatum is also on that Designated Rookie contract.

Barnes is excellent.

If it were Barnes + Siakam that's better than our offer of Brown + White IMO.
If it were Barnes + OG + Trent then it would depend on the other Nets moves.

In any case it will be interesting. I think we are in agreement that it's hard for Miami to come up with something better than many other offers without giving up a piece they consider non-negotiable. Unless they really went crazy and did multiple trades that sent Butler and Bam out with others to bring KD and Mitchell in for example.
