$7m/yr is a lot of lira for a declining lamppost. Gallo is way past his pico. But we're in the tax anyways so why not go all out.
I guess if he wins us a playoff game or two with one of his patented 3 streaks it will be worth it.

Low turnover guy
Can teach Tatum some things about scoring (not many humans can)
Can Grant guard 3 while he guards 4, but they switch roles offensively? Feels like a Dustin/Steve sort of pairing, potentially

I want Horford and him to win the Banner 18 with the Celtics. Very good signing by Brad...a high I.Q. player (which we lack right now).

Is Gallo really a backup 5 at this point in his career. He is 6'10 with a 7'1 wingspan and if he has lost a step but gained weight over the years maybe he is a Stretch 5 as oppsed to a 3, no shotblocking really but he might provide better defense against 5's then say Grant Williams. I mean maybe he is a stretch 4 still but maybe we really need another backup Wing not a backup C.

That is a good point, but feel stretch 4 is the best spot for him. Feel team still needs a backup big and a wing.

Played PF almost exclusively in his last four seasons.

2021-22 ATL DRtg w/ him as PF: 115.5, 26th percentile
2020-21 ATL DRtg w/ him as PF: 113.5, 44th percentile
2019-20 OKC DRtg w/ him as PF: 112.4, 39th percentile
2018-19 LAC DRtg w/ him as PF: 111.9, 39th percentile

Not great hehe. Team just needs to make it up on offense.

Thanks for posting these — actually (lol) not as bad as I thought! Is the SF sample size too small to talk about?

Way too small. Negligible. He's played a bit of center with the Clippers, but also negligible.

Grant is pretty much the same in terms of time spent as SF. Not an ideal bench fit for sure. Like one of them has to play center in spot minutes if Ime is sticking with the original Horflord starter pairing.

Galinari is a perfect stretch 4 for us. When Horf comes off he'll fit right in shooting 3s, playmaking, screens. Defensively he can't replace Horf but he'll big, athletic, strong and knows where to be. Plus he wants to be here. Look at that pic. Gallo is gonna be a huge fan favorite. Can't wait !!!

Gallo will win us games as he can get us 20+ on any given night.

Which is why we need a defensive, shot blocker behind Rob on the team. When Rob sits, Horf is our only other rim protector. Maybe the Cs feel Gallo can protect the rim as Theis did. I'd like to see Gallo sub in for Horf and a real center sub in for Rob.

With Kanter at center last season, Celtics had a 108.5 defensive rating which is in 81st percentile. So for the bench, maybe it's more about scheme, communication, and having bulldog defenders at the point of attack (White, Brogdon, some Smart, Grant when he gets switched).

100% real. It's an ad campaign/skit for Sheets Energy Strips. "Take a Sheet." Pretty good acting by both of them I must say lol.
