As constructed, the Nets have a pretty solid team right now.

I absolutely would dump Irving to LA for anything we can get. He's a cancer that needs to be removed. But I think that we aren't going to get the proper return on Durant. So we need to do to him what the Lakers did to Kobe when he wanted out: deny his request. Call Durant's bluff. I'll wager he won't sacrifice his remaining years to prove a point.

He is the best possible player we can get. But I still don't think Boston is dumb enough to do it.

KD/Tatum are two mentally weak players. Will implode in 2 years.

I think Boston would do it. They value Tatum more. I’m open to Brown. Brown and Mitchell would cook.

One thing about the Raptors trade most people are not accounting for is that since TOR was not on KD's list, they need to pitch to KD why he would want to stay there. I don't see how keeping Barnes in a trade convinces KD the Raptors is where he should try to win a chip.

If you are KD, you much rather surround yourself with vets as the core. FVV-GTJ-Siakim-KD-Boucher is much better for right now than having Barnes. Why should KD care to wait 2-3 yrs for Barnes to mature when KD only has like 2yrs left of his prime?

For this reason as well, I doubt a deal with the Raptors happen.

So was thinking - I don't love the Toronto deals even with Barnes - but what if the price of KD for them is that they have to take Kyrie too and swap him for FVV? I think FVV would be an awesome fit with Simmons.

All things considered this is a pretty simple 2 team trade that gets Toronto the chance to start Kyrie, KD, Siakam, and barnes together - which is undoubtedly a 3-4 year championship window core.
http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=29p385nl
(nets would get all the picks, and if toronto wanted to swap siakam/og i'd be fine with that)

if this happened Id actually still try for Ayton. A S&T with some combo of Harris, Cam Thomas, Sharpe, picks etc. I suppose they could also try for Turner if they like him better.

This net team would be really interesting and the pieces all seem to fit:

FVV / Trent
Curry / O'Neale
Simmons / Edwards
OG or Siakam / Thad
Ayton or Turner / Claxton

i think that lineup is better than the toronto lineup that won 48 last year.

they just dropped the domestic mandate so maybe the international one is coming too? that would be funny if kyrie nixes a deal away from the nets after demanding a trade bc of another mandate.

separate from the mandate stuff though im curious if Toronto fans would do that deal just based on the on-court?

I think you would be hard pressed to find any fan base outside of the Lakers, that would want to trade anything of the slightest value for Kyrie Irving. No way would the Raptors FO consider trading FVV who is the leader of the team for a head case like Kyrie.

That would cement KD is a bus rider.

Would not be surprised to see it one bit since KD has shown he has zero leadership skills.

With that being said, I'd consider taking Poole/Kuminga/Wiseman/filler/all the picks + swaps.

KD will be a bus rider no matter where he goes from now on.

He had his chance to become a leader and win a Championship here.

Golden State deal isn't bad. Certainly way better than anything Phoenix or Miami could give us.

Probably not better than Toronto, Boston or New Orleans.

But why would Golden State do it?

Because barring injury they could win the title the next 2 years . Not that they can’t without him but they’d be overwhelming favorites and Curry won’t be AS dominant forever. ( although he’ll probably age fantastically. )
It’s sooooo hard to be the best out of 30 teams. I’d be livid if I was a Warrior fan and they didn’t mortgage the future for now.

Looking at potential trades, it's super difficult to get what we would want, young all star talent, picks with young players. The rookie designated extension really restricts what we can do with Simmons on the roster. Anyway, here are some trade ideas:

I prefer Simmons to stay and be the guy who shows everyone how good he is. But only the 1st trade keeps Simmons because I see lots of smoke about some sort of Simmons for Mitchell type deals.

Nets, Lakers, Raptors and Pacers trade
KD, Irving out with OG, Barnes, Boucher and Turner coming back plus picks.
Nets Roster Post trade

Simmons / Mills
Harris / Curry / Thomas / Duke
OG / O'Neale / Edwards
Barnes / Boucher /
Turner / Claxton / Sharpe

Other trade ideas.

Trade KD to Raptors, Simmons to Jazz and Irving to LA.
Get Westbrook, Mitchell, OG, Barnes, Boucher & picks
Starting 5

Westbrook
Mitchell
OG
Barnes
Claxton

Next trade would be with New Orleans.
Trade KD to New Orleans, Simmons to Jazz and Irving to LA.
Get Westbrook, Mitchell, Ingram, Hayes, Jones and Daniels (really like Daniels as a prospect. Think he is similar to Simmons with his size and defensive ability and is also Australian).

Westbrook
Mitchell
Ingram
O'Neale
Claxton

Next trade would be to GSW.
Would have to be complicated but would end up with us getting Kuminga, Wiseman, Poole, Turner and salary filler from Trailblazers with lots of picks. Could send Turner elsewhere as well. But team would be building with Simmons, Poole, Kuminga and Wiseman.

I need to stop this haha but it really is difficult to get true value for Irving, KD and even Simmons who's value is at it's lowest right now. My favorite trades would bring back Barnes & OG or Kuminga & Wiseman and Poole. The designated rookie extension rule really makes things difficult. I could see the Nets moving Simmons for Mitchell. Having Mitchell, OG & Barnes would be nice or Mitchell, Poole, Kuminga & Wiseman.

Lakers would be the only team that would be willing to give up anything of value for Kyrie, just because LeBron supposedly wants him there. We should take advantage of that and get something for him.

Lakers only offer includes taking Westbrick.

I'm good on that.

Kyrie has no value in this league beyond delusional LeBron thinking he could fix him.

Kyrie can sit out this season. Hes used to it anyway.

They don't need to convince him to stay. He's signed for the next 4 years, he can't do anything about it.

Again in the deal im proposing Toronto is keeping Barnes. It's basically the better of the 2 deals Hollinger proposed without Kyrie included (2/3 of OG, Siakam, FVV). http://www.espn.com/nba/tradeMachine?tradeId=29p385nl

I know nobody wants Kyrie, but do they turn down a starting lineup that includes KD, Siakam, Barnes, and Kyrie?

What about Irving to Dallas for Dinwiddie & Bertans, KD to LA for AD plus (2027 & 2029 1sts), Simmons to Utah for Mitchell.

Dinwiddie
Mitchell
Harris
AD
Claxton

Been a long couple of days....I realize any trade I make isn't going to be as good as having

Irving
Harris
Simmons
KD
Claxton

Which is the most frustrating part in this.

I just realized that Kyrie for Westbrook's expiring doesn't work straight up.

At this point I either negotiate a buyout with Kyrie or let him sit. Losing another player just to get rid of Kyrie isn't worth it.
