The truth is, Jeanie Buss is NOT the greatest Buss owner ever. Jerry Buss was a much better owner and administrator, and that allowed Magic and Kobe to work their magic and contribute the franchise's greatness in a very good environment.

Yeah, romanticized revisionist history and nothing more. Kobe pushed quite a few talented players just because he didnt like them, Shaq, Bynum, Howard. This is just stupid debate. He had his own super team fiasco, but now hes dead so people act he had no bad moments.

Kobe demanded a trade because he was carrying a garbage roster to the playoffs. The equivalent of the year’s Houston Rockets without any of the young talent. If you have an all time great player you don’t surround him with garbage and Kobe made the trade demand to force the organization to act and he was eventually talked down and lead the Lakers to one of the top records in the West even before the Gasol trade. He also wanted to ship out Bynum for J Kidd because again he wants to be in the position to win (notice this isn’t the same thing as stacking teams). Bynum flamed out of the NBA after he left the Lakers. Same reason Kobe didn’t get along with Dwight, Dwight wasn’t a serious player committed to winning and didn’t win a championship until he became a role player.

And despite what Realgm believes, Kobe was a brilliant basketball mind and fully understood the commitment required to win a ship. Getting that perspective is invaluable for any NBA decision maker.
