Schroeder is pretty reliable. He's already played for them. Celtics are lacking a combo guard that can handle the rock and score.

Marcus Smart, Derrick White and Pritchard all struggled to create their own shots and it really hurt them against the Warriors. Not only can you start Schroeder along side Smart if you need, he is also good defender with length.

Celtics literally traded him because him and Smart were terrible together and Schroeder couldn't get consistent offense. They traded him for a third C who was hardly used.
What are you talking about?

I'm certain you didn't watch the Celtics play the Warriors in the finals.

His big upside is that he is incredible injury free. Which should be worth something these days. A team looking for a 6th man should get him, his defence is bad and he can be a terrible chucker but his explosiveness off the bench against tiring defenses is still useful.

Bulls, they only have 6 PGs: Lonzo Ball/Coby White/Goran Dragic/Alex Caruso/Ayo Dosunmu/Dalen Terry

I watched every game. Did you literally not watch when Dennis was PLAYING for the CELTICS NEXT TO SMART?

Celtics are still a WIP and team ball can only take you so far. Marcus Smart has good energy but lacks the playmaking/IQ they need from the starting PG position.

This was made clear in the finals but they have always struggled from this position. It has more to do with their college-like playing style. This is why they signed Malcolm Brogdon.

Raptors actually would be a perfect fit. They are desperate for a decent reserve for FVV, and also for Trent Jr. he could fill both roles. While he isn’t much of a shooter or defender, he can get buckets off the bench and passably run a team’s offense, and the Raps would have enough defense around him even with the 2nd unit.

Mavs are another team that makes a lot of sense.

Taking a quick glance over teams current depth charts, a number of teams could use him off the bench.

Hawks - Aaron Holiday
Celtics - Payton Pritchard
Hornets - James Bouknight?
Lakers - Kendrick Nunn?
Heat - Gabe Vincent
Timberwolves - Jordan McLaughlin
Suns - Cameron Payne
Spurs - Tre Jones? Blake Wesley? They don't even have a starter
Raptors - Malachi Flynn

Teams like the 76ers and Mavericks could also use him if they moved some of their bench pieces to other positions. 76ers need more bench scoring. Mavericks could pair him with Dinwiddie in the backcourt off the bench.

I think the Timberwolves are the team that should really target him. If Russell plays like crap, Schroder can replace him in the starting lineup, which could be attractive to Schroder so that he can get his value back up.

The Bucks would need a reserve PG too. George Hill is washed.

Miami can use Herro or Oladipo as bench PGs.

Dallas can use another PG if they use Spencer as a starter.

I can not see the Spurs taking a PG like Dennis because they are tanking.

Celtics got Brogdon who should begin the season as the 6th man. White can play as PG too if needed. They are good on PGs now.

Only Suns, Hawks, Heat, and Charlotte can pay the MLE to Dennis. The Celtics, Bucks, Wolves, Dallas, Lakers, and Raptors already spent it and they would need to sign and trade deals to pay Dennis more than the minimum.

Schroder was good for the Celtics in the sense that he occasionally had big individual scoring games.

He was bad for the Celtics in that it never translated to team success. He was the fastest guy on our team but played the slowest. Walks the ball up the court in slow motion, has tunnel vision, and takes ages to process what's happening and make good reads. The offense would just grind to a halt when he entered the game. His effort is inconsistent. And his defense is mediocre at best.

He's not a point guard but if you need a little scoring punch off the bench you could do worse I guess.

The Wolves could use the bi-annual exception on him.

He turned down a four-year, $40 million extension before the 2016-17 season. Sources say Muhammad believed a strong year plus a crazy flow of free-agency money would lead to him commanding as much as $20 million per season in his next deal.

Spurs make sense.

The Spurs have a glut of young guards that they want to play and if they just want to use their cap space to acquire first round picks, taking on bad contracts (like Westbrook) is a sure thing while hoping to resurrect Schroder's value so that he is worth a FRP at the deadline seems like far from a sure thing.
The only way he makes sense for the Spurs to me is as a tank commander, and as mentioned they already have a lot of young guards who can do that and are also long-term assets.

The Spurs don't make any sense to me. He should go somewhere where he can get back into his best role as a scorer/ball handler, Cam Payne role. Timberwolves would be a pretty solid fit.

Gobert/KAT/Reid
KAT/Anderson/Prince/McDaniels
Anderson/Prince
Edwards/Nowell/Schroeder
Russel/Schroeder/McLaughlin

If they could get one more 2/3 to plug in like Jeremy Lamb, TJ Warren, Austin Rivers, Josh Jackson then I think they'd be in great shape as a team that can make some noise.
Go Knicks!
