Likely worse than the Knicks: Pacers, Magic, Spurs, Rockets, OKC, Sacramento

May surprise and finish ahead: Pistons, Washington

The biggest problem with the Knicks is that they won't do the right thing at the right time. Had they tanked last season after it was obvious that there was no chance at the playoffs they could have realistically ended up with 30 wins and in the 6th/7th position where they may have moved up to 4 (like Sacramento) and picked Ivey for example.

I remember the Towns draft where the Knicks were the worst team in the league for the entire year but won the last two games (under Derek Fisher that idiot) and dropped to two and then to 4 in the lottery. Ended up with KP instead of Towns. That's the difference between a smart franchise that maximizes opportunity vs. a **** loser franchise like the Knicks.

I will not troll the optimists or check Chanel when RJ finally gets the boot or the extension (I’d give him sh*t either way). Hardest of all, I promise to have the willpower not to engage in cheap dad jokes with Buzz, Wingo or Clyde.

See you fools in October when games start again… Or will I?

In closing, I ask: Seriously wtf is wrong with us? Why tf do we do this to ourselves?

You are doing the right thing. Actually if you would keep it up throughout the season it would be to the benefit of the Knicks. I logged out and disengaged from the Knicks after the Tim Hardaway junior signing in 2016 I believe. To me it was obvious that Mills/Perry is a disastrous combination and that the Kicks are going nowhere. I can honestly tell you that after 4 weeks you will feel increasingly disconnected from the NBA and Knicks and you will absolutely love it. I had been following the Knicks almost daily from 1997-2016.

I felt liberated that I'm not wasting any more time on a team that has only produced losing and stress for decades now. You will still retain the ability to cheer for them though---it is like observing something from a distance you are empowered and can check in from time to time. Now I check in rarely----like every 4-5 months to see what is up....like on the draft or trading deadline etc.

You will also be able to enjoy good basketball by other teams much much more. Previously, when I was following this **** show on a daily basis, I really couldn't stand almost any other team having any success---I was miserable in regards to basketball and the NBA almost all the time. Now I watch the playoffs and am kinda rooting for all the teams most of the time because I just enjoy the good sound basketball. In a couple days I will be checking out again until next year at the deadline and see where things are at.

You are doing yourself a great great favor, trust me. If you manage to keep this up for 4 weeks or more, you will always keep the control and you'll never go fully back. Of course, if the Knicks manage to ever put together a great team worthy of your time, you are always free to invest more time.

In short: great decision---I congratulate you on it. A great side effect is that if all knick fans or the vast majority had the guts to do it, it would actually be an agent of real change for the franchise.

I still find it hilarious that this thread reaches 100s of pages of discussion only for management to trade away the pick. It’s by far the best representation of being a Knicks fan there is.

I suspect as long as this current FO is in place they won't ever use all their picks in any given draft, they seem to flip some for more in the future. With most of drafts coming up they have more than one first rounder and I can see them flipping some of them for more future firsts so they always have a cache of 1sts to use in a trade for a potential star.

Jokic, Giannis, George, Mitchell, Booker, FVV, Draymond, Kawhi right now...smh

Exactly. I love the draft but going forward I can’t get invested with this current FO. They’ll trade their way into the 20’s or out of the draft no matter what unless a prospect is signed to CAA.
