Would they offer Philly one of their TPE's for Thybulle?

I think the blazers could take Thybulle and Kenyon Martin Jr (Philly is looking to move both of them to get room from Eric Gordon). We could take them into the RoCo TPE and it would create a $6.16M trade exception going back to Philadelphia. It might need to be 2 deals, but I am hoping the Blazers are looking at bigger deals.

I like a defensive 2nd unit of Payton II, Hart, Little, Winslow, and a center (yet to be signed/traded for). We still need a starting SF.

Josh Hart is our starting SF.

Yeah, but I'd like to see the Blazers find a new starting SF with some size.

Thybulle is 6'5 w/ a 6'11 wingspan at 201lbs.
Hart is 6'5 w/ a 6'09 wingspan at 215lbs.
Its not like Thybulle is archetypical SF size.

I don't get the Thybulle hype. Hart is solid on defense and significantly better on offense.

For me, I think Thybulle is a complete defensive stud and very versatile on defense. That said, kid can't shoot. Fortunately, that is a skill that can be worked on and improved much more easily than just about any other skill. If he improves upon his shooting, he could be a very good wingman.

He's spent 4 years in college and 3 more in the NBA. If he hasn't developed a reliable jump shot by now, he probably won't.
In a vacuum, Thybulle intrigues me, but now that we have GP2, he seems redundant. They are very similar players. Total defensive studs (Thybulle has been 2nd team All Defense the past two seasons). Both get lots of steals, and Thybulle blocks an impressive number of shots for a guard/perimeter defender (tops in the league for non-centers/non-power forwards - Giannis only blocked two more shots that Thybulle last season).
On offense, they are also very similar. Both are great finishers who have high TS% because they rely heavily on dunks for a large percentage of their 2-point field goals. Thybulle had 60 dunks last season, tops among guards and well over half of his made 2FG (105). Payton was right behind him with 55 dunks. Both of these numbers, were more dunks than anyone who played for the Blazers last season.
However, neither player can create for themselves or others. Both can knock down an open corner 3, but neither have a track record of being good shooters, in general. Both are extremely low volume scorers. You can interpret that in one of two ways: either they know their limits or are flat afraid to shoot even when open. Doesn't really matter, as the scouting reports are the same. These are the guys defenses will double off of to focus on your better scorers. You are playing 4 on 5 on offense with either of these guys on the floor. Which means you can't play them together off the bench.
Both pair well with either Dame or Ant, which would mean starting Thybulle and Dame and brining Ant and GP2 off the bench. That's intriguing in principle, but I'm not sure how effective it would be in practice.
Both seem like Chauncey kind of guys and if we can get Thybulle as a cheap throw in as the third team facilitating a larger trade, I'd do it just to have more defensive depth/versatility on the perimeter. Both are great point of attack defenders, something POR has lacked since ??? (maybe Greg Anthony). It would be really nice to see our opponents have to work for their points for a change. With GP2 and Thybulle you could have a great POA defender on the floor at all times.

Appreciate the extensive breakdown- impressive.
I did not know he was in college for four years, making it less likely he will develop that 3. Last year he was at 31% with only 2.2 attempts-I imagine he got very clear looks taking those:) If he were to up that to 35%, he could become much less of an offensive liability. You are right, it would be very hard to put both of those guys on the court at the same time.

Re: Report: Sixers want to do a 3 team deal with Blazers where Thybulle ends up in PDX
The roster is what it is. Cronin couldn't get anything done with bledsoe and we're hard capped. He seemed to ignore Dame's very public Durant trade request by signing Simons and Sharpe right away and now eating Bledsoes 3.9 million. Warren was just sitting there and we needed a starting 3 but for some reason didn't sign him??
We have the Roco tpe but past that we don't really have any other assets since we traded Roco and Powell for a second. Not sure how we improve the roster from this.
We have a ton of youth that isn't ready to contribute in a meaningful way but the fo is saying they want to win now. Dame just turned 32. I don't get it.

We tried to trade 7 for OG, didnt happen so we pivoted.
And by all accounts Ant and Sharpe isnt getting close to KD. They want a All Star and more picks than UTA got from Gobert. We cant offer that.

They won't get an all star back. Ant, Nas, Sharpe, Keon and Winslow plus 4 firsts and 4 swaps should get the deal done. I would try to get Curry back in the deal as well since he wouldn't make much sense to keep. Ant will be an all star in BK, and Sharpe by all means has that kind of potential.
Ant
Sharpe
Nas
Simmons
Claxton
Plus all those picks and whatever they get for Kyrie is a nice rebuild core imo.
Phoenix and Toronto could beat that but I doubt they trade for him for what they'd have to give up would make it kind of a lateral move.

They will hold him if they can’t get what they want, he is locked up for years. Having no control over their future picks makes it a sticky situation for them, they will want win-now and future talent.
OG + GTJ + Precious + 3/3 pick package is much better and even that is being labeled as not enough for BRK.

I don't think anyone is giving up that kind of haul for Durant. No one trusts him to stick around. I think a deal will get done by someone eventually, but I bet it will be for about or less than what Minny paid for Gobert
