Rest of the league literally: No Thanks, no interest, head case, nut case, quitter, hang up phone….
Sean: Well we got nothing… let’s pretend we have options so the Lakers drive up the price…
Sean to Rob: Can you do anything better?
Rob: WB / THT for Curry / Kyrie now….
Sean: But wait, now you took out the first?
Rob: We know you got nothing… you had your chance…
……… nothing for a few days…….
Sean: Fine we will do it
Brooklyn “holds out”, “no traction on a deal” “haven’t talked in days”
July 7th: Official deal: Kyrie / Curry for WB / THT
lol Do Marks and Tsai seem like the guys to cave? Its already being reported that they have no intention of fulfilling any of Kyrie/KD desires unless its beneficial to the Nets. Also, we can debate on this but I think the sticking point is harris vs curry and that's such a Laker thing to worry about when you have Kyrie right in front of you.
His deal is just some fantasy that has no grounds in reality. If BKN can’t get assets for Kyrie they have no reason to trade him. WB is not an asset. THT is not an asset. Not even mentioning they could probably trade Curry for at least a 2nd.
Why would BKN trade Kyrie/Curry for WB/THT and no picks? So they can get worse players and have to pay more? It’s just idiotic.
You're right, they won't do it for no 1st. That said, a 1st with some protection will still be more than any other team is willing to offer, at least as things are now.

Plus the Nets themselves don't have draft picks,a full on rebuild is off the table for them, which make it even less of a reason to for Nets to even consider trading Kyrie for Westbrook than there already was. Sean Marks may handed the Kyrie situlation poorly, but he's not a idiot and will do what's in the best interest of the team. The only teams that MIGHT want anythingto do Westbrook or TNT are the Hornets and maybe the Pacers and that's if unprotected picks come into play.
Do we know for sure Kyrie only wants the Lakers?
What’s stopping BKN from holding Kyrie out and trading him as a 20 game rental to some team that wants to contend (and Kyrie might want to play for briefly)? A few teams would probably give up a late first for a Kyrie rental. Or the Lakers cave and add firsts. There literally can’t be a worse offer than WB+THT+ no picks.

Nope... We're bidding against ourselves at this point... Prove us wrong and maybe we come off of Westbrook straight up, but if not... Go ahead and keep Kyrie... it's good for the lulz...
The Nets can keep Kyrie and try to win and keep him at the end of this year, and there should be other suitors

I can almost guarantee you the Nets have zero interest in helping Kyrie get to LAL.
Why shouldn't the Nets play the long game here and see if somebody gets injured on a contending team and becomes desperate? Who's to say Minnesota and a 3rd team can't broker a deal to get Kyrie to Minnesota?
The Lakers offer is complete rubbish and there's zero reason why the Nets should just give him away. It's July 5th..What is the hurry?

Sure they could... But last season went so well, and that's with a Kyrie that WANTED to be there... This season, he's probably not going to play at all if he doesn't get his extension and will do everything he can to be a pain in the ass...

It's far from a sure thing that Kyrie only wants to be on the Lakers. If they were to trade him to say the 76ers or the Mavericks,I think Kyrie will be fine playing for them due to them being contenders. Also the KD trade talks seemed to have stalled out,so it's not out of the question both Kyrie and KD might be on the team this upcoming season anyway. I believe the Nets are contenders if they run it back with Kyrie and KD. Their depth got deeper with Tj Warren signing there. Joe Harris should be back.Hopefully Ben Simmons returns. Simply need to get rid of Steve Nash and find a starting caliber Center.

If Kyrie wants to get paid after his current contract, isn't' in his best interest to by trying this season? He's got so many seasons where he didn't really help his team win already, adding another one pushes him firmly into the 'well, if we can get him cheap it's worth the gamble' type of FA. He needs an effective season for there to be a market anywhere near a 35% deal.

Woj finally admitting on sports center, what others have been saying for awhile now, that the Nets have no where else to go but the Lakers at this point. That had to have been tough for him to do.

Because Hield isn't in their long-term plans and THT is only 21 years old. Nunn is also a promising young player.
The problem with THT, is he has very little value right now because of his PO after next year. If he sucks, its going to cost you $11 million in 23-24, if he plays well at all his declining the PO and they may lose him anyway.
Exactly, I'm intrigued by THT and plan on following him next year. But his contract just would kill interest for me. Klutch, and I mean this as a compliment, is very aggressive fighting for the best deal for their clients. He will 100% opt out if he can make more. He will 100% opt in if he stinks.
So either way THT isn't an asset unless you are planning on a 1 year tun for a title. A rental makes sense in that situation but if you're gunning for a title you'd probably hold onto Kyrie and hope he plays good soldier.

I think you're right. If Kyrie is even 1% rational he'll be on his best behavior next year to get a max. Otherwise he has no shot.
This is why I wouldn't trade him if I was Brooklyn unless I got something of value back. Not laker hatred but just the reality that Kyrie actually has some real value unlike a salary dump

That was speculation before not what others have beens saying. It took a week + for the Nets to canvass the league and find out that no one wants to give up anything substantial except the Lakers. Other teams were interested AND Kyrie has expressed interest in going to other places.

I mean it’s only been reported on for the last week that Kyrie is trying to make his way to the Lakers. There’s currently no other team interested in taking on Kyrie. Even the Mavs, as reported recently by Stein, aren’t interested in bringing in Kyrie. And lol at the Sixers, you really think Harden wants to play with Kyrie after forcing his way out of BKN to avoid playing with him? I’ve seen your other posts about this trade and call me crazy but it seems like you realllly don’t want this deal to go down for the Lakers..

I think Marks has told Pelinka, I need a little more for Kyrie so we can save face. And Pelinka's said, look we're content just playing out this season with Westbrook and keeping our picks and cap next season, so find a better offer than ours so we can start bidding. And then everyone enjoyed the weekend.

Pelinka may say that, but he is under massive pressure to replace Westbrook with actual talent. The Nets can hold out longer.

The Nets can hold out until February, but with each passing month Kyrie's value goes down to other teams. It can't get rehabbed over the course of a season, if ever. His next extension will be his biggest and last.
Pelinka can either give up more assets to bring in Kyrie earlier for Lebron's 20th, and then be practically forced to re-sign Kyrie for the full max in 2023, or wait this out and have every resource available in 2023 especially if Lebron walks to play with his son.

They can take it into the hell hole of trainning camp i guess. I would want move on fast as i could . Buyout brook and be done with it or maybe try trade him at the deadline if he improves his stock. With KD not showing most likely they are just making things worst for themselves. I mean this should have never gotten to this point but here we are.

One of the biggest misconceptions is that the Lakers are screwed if they don't do this deal. The Lakers have basically all their picks going forward, young pieces, and depending on how things shake out, max cap space next year and beyond.
