Re: Kevin Durant vs. Dwyane Wade - who you got?
Wade has got a better peak, 2006 and 2009 > 2014 and 2017 imo
However at this point KD has a better prime and career.

Wade has a higher peak, but his longevity is just awful.
KD has a better prime and likely greater career. He's a more portable player too.

But 09 Wade to me peaked a little bit higher, and he was great defensively that season as well

Objectively KD ranks higher all time. Wade’s peak and prime was better when healthy, and i’d still rather have him to build around even despite the worse longevity. For one, he seems more loyal and despite the longevity KD never proved he can take his team to a title as the clear best guy.

A top 15-20 ATG is currently barely ahead of a 25-30 ATG in a RGM poll.
Aforementioned 15-20 ATG has a had a really bad week in the press, and in the eyes of most fans.
I wonder if those two sentences could possibly be connected.
Nah, must be a coincidence.
The Wade-renaissance was just bound to start this week anyways, no connection whatsoever.
(Half-kidding. I see in the RGM past results that KD is only ahead of Wade by 1-6 spots, but still, 'cmon now.)

Life it is not just a series of calculations and a sum total of statistics, it's about experience, it's about participation, it is something more complex and more interesting than what is obvious.

Part of the issue is two questions are being posed in the op so its unclear which the poll is meant to answer. If its peak or if its career. I think many would say Wade peaked higher but KD is higher in the all time sense.

How much of Wade's peak falls outside of the 1st Mav's Final, which is easily an All Time Top 10 NBA Worst Ref'ing Debacle?
(Right now, some truth-telling-DWade fan is giggling a bit too loudly... because don't you know [shrill whistle sound] the Mavs just got called for ANOTHER foul sending DWade back to the line!)

2009, 2010 and 2011 are more or less on the level of 2006.
Honestly, I should be surprised we still see these sort of low quality arguments on a place as smart as realgm but i’m not.
Anyone who thinks Wade didn’t have a peak outside of one series really shouldn’t be taken seriously when it comes to Wade discussions. Sadly there have always been a few like that on here.

Wade comfortably ahead for peaks, but Durant even more so for careers.

Uh-oh, an earnest newcomer to RGM just got sent to the Principal's Office.
I knew my luck would run out sooner or later.

Re: Kevin Durant vs. Dwyane Wade - who you got?
I think both guys fall into this trap that makes it so hard for people to judge peaks. I've made a few posts about this lately but to me I think player peak shouldn't necessarily be from the same year. I think we should maybe consider that a peak could include both a peak rs and ps from different seasons. So KD's could be 14/17 while Wade's is 09/06 and argued in that way as well. Personally I think its probably the best way to do it. Both represent their apex in a respective way and I think its a more accurate representation of what a player's peak actually is. Just food for thought.

I’ve been saying for a while now, peak should be the average level of their 2-3 best seasons. Don’t have to be consecutive years.
Not even neccesarily convinced that 2017 should be one of them. 2013 and 2014 was arguably his 2 year peak.

People can post whatever they want as long as it’s not rule breaking. I’m not a rule enforcer, frankly i’m just done trying to explain how good Wade was. Most people either know, or refuse to aknowledge due to some bias. Some literally don’t even realize his real level. I won’t do research for anyone anymore.

I consider 09' Wade's absolute peak

2017 wasn't but what I am saying is use 14 as rs peak and 17 as his ps peak but combine them into one season.

I’m not sure I quite differentiate like that but I get it. If that’s what we’re doing 2009 RS Wade+2006 playoffs seems pretty hard to top imo.

Combining the 3 best rs and 3 best ps would also be an interesting way to do it. Then giving each a roughly 50% weight in how we compare them. It might even make for a good project.

I wonder if Wade actually considers 09 as his peak year seeing as it was one of the few seasons in his career he didn't make it past the first round in the playoffs?
Great regular season statistically of course.

With a fair whistle, the Mavs don't even get past the Spurs that year. Surely you remember that joke of a game where Duncan fouled out on some BS and the Mavs shot 50 free throws.
