I'm structuring this as a fun draft, but the point is to share knowledge/insight/research/preferences on the topic at hand, which is to evaluate the Quality of the ATG's POST-PRIME years.
There is so much hyper-focus here on the peak years, and I guess someday I will acclimate to that quirky obsession.
There is so much weight put on the prime years here - that I can respect.
In fact, I respect it so much I'd like to put together a fun thread where we might (if anybody is interested) identify the greatest careers for players PAST their prime.
Rule 1: You can pick any player that has NOT already been chosen. (That is the fun draft element.)
Rule 2: Identify when you think that player's post-prime began. You are choosing the player whose post-prime years in combination are the most excellent. Remember it is ALL their post-prime years, from the point where you identify the post-prime period as starting, right through to retirement.
Rule 3: Feel free to share more of your reasoning - why that player and not another? Why do the Fading Twilight Years of that player still charm you? Or just name the player (like I am going to) and keep it moving. Whatever you like. We are all friends here. I think.
Rule 4: Constructive notes are always welcome as to how earlier voters in the thread might have made an error in where they draw the Post-Prime line as starting. So you could note that in passing, for sure, but as per Rule 1, that player can't be your actual choice.
Rule 4: Please copy the increasingly long list of players into your post if you don't mind - and then you just add on the next one. (So, it is kind of like a "builder" game too, I guess.) Thanks.
I'll go first!
1. Kareem (3 seasons: '86/87 - '88-'89). He was a great teammate - and has the best longevity ever, except for LeBron and Mailman.
2. ? (this is where you choose)

Post-Prime Draft
Life it is not just a series of calculations and a sum total of statistics, it's about experience, it's about participation, it is something more complex and more interesting than what is obvious.

By "Post-Peak" we mean "Past Prime" as in "These guys no longer have the same transmission they once had"?

Should I rename it the Past Prime Draft?

Just firmly establish what it is you're trying to do......"post-peak" is a very different thing from "post-prime".

Oh, I meant post prime.
Sorry for any confusion.
I wasn't using the lingo right in the OP.
OP title and intro corrected.
Hopefully folks are interested.

Ahem, beg your pardon. Rare exception that one.

2. Tim Duncan (4 seasons: 2011-2014). He took a step back offensively [mostly in usage, small bits in athleticism] but was still a tremendously capable and impactful defender for some seriously good Spurs team [50-16 in 2012 is underappreciated]. He was arguably the best player on his team in 2013 and 2014--two NBA finalists.
