Which PG's In History Could Win with Steph's Supporting Cast This Year

Post#1 » by Admiral-Kizaru » Wed Jul 6, 2022 8:07 pm

I'm curious which point guards in history would win with the exact same team or something similar to what Steph had around him this year in the playoffs.

I think a prime Westbrook could, but I'm in minority on that on realgm.

The main idea of this thread is about players who could shoulder a similar scoring load as Steph, especially in the finals. I think Brodie can put up high numbers but how efficient could he be especially having to drive into the paint against Timelord time and time again.

I actually don't think peak Westbrook is a bad choice

Similar talent? Probably a few. Exactly the same team? Idk. It’s sort of a weird question since the best PGs are traditionally pure points but that’s not Steph’s role.

Plenty could have got to the finals. Steph wasnt that good in the west playoffs. But few if any could have ran that Boston defense like that.

I know that version of Russ played with Adams and Roberson but man... in today's NBA? With Green and Looney in the frontcourt?

My first thought is Jerry West, since he's the historical player closest to Steph.
Banned temporarily for, among other sins, being "Extremely Deviant".

People see what they want to see. Where did I even suggest such a thing? I even mentioned in one of my posts above that the premise of this thread was about which PGs have the ability to shoulder Steph's offensive/scoring load.

Heck I even suggest that players that I think are inferior to Steph in Westbrook and AI could possibly do it.

Quite a few.

This was an extraordinarily bad year for level of competition.

Nobody.

If had to choose someone then I'd go with 2010-11 Derrick Rose.

West and Robertson

Come on man, we know why you made this thread :-?

edit: Perhaps I am being presumptuous though, so if so, my apologies.

To seriously answer your question - probably no one, considering how extremely dependent the Warriors were on his three point shooting and i don't see any PGs being able to replicate that. Maybe Jerry West?
