Will Marjon still play in the Summer League even if he hasn't signed his rookie deal yet? I can't remember if players ever hold out of SL games while the are negotiating their deal...

I think your Collins/Donte usage supports the concept that Bud is willing to play 1st rounders who are reasonably ready to play.

But Beauchamp may not be nearly as ready for NBA action as Donte and Collins were? Who knows. But Collins had played two full seasons in the powerful ACC. Donte had three years at Villanova, with good coaching. With a JC season at Yakima and a handful of G-league games, Beauchamp may not be quite as NBA-ready. Or, maybe he will be, who knows?

The Ignite season is 30 games, just like a college season. However, they get to practice full time, unlike college. Also, they play actuall NBA rules.

Dude, I was in the streets back when Charlie Chris was launching Rainbow 3s from the corner.

Okay, you got me beat. I do not remember him. :D

OH hell yes I was. Guarding the fortress on 4th back in the day. I'm thinking 97 or 98 when we were watching Honeycutt put up some numbers.

Like I don’t see him ever guarding, say, a Portis type well (like LRMAM could). Though he will absolutely bother ppl w his length.

ETA I think right now, even a Tatum sized stronger/bigger wing-4 will give MB trouble. Now.

When I say bulk, I'm not asking him to be a Semi type. I just want some filling out. 10-15 lbs is pretty realistic, 20-25 ideal. With that being said, he's strong in spite of his 196 lbs frame at current which is a plus. With that being said, Portis is a bit of a dinosaur. He's the size of a modern NBA 5, not a 4. A big part of him working for us is the unicorn we have flying around with the length and explosion Portis lacks.

Tobias Harris
PJ Tucker
Kevin Durant
Bojan Bogdanovic
Pascal Siakam
Aaron Gordon
Jarred Vanderbilt
Robert Covington
Patrick Williams
Jerami Grant
Draymond Green
Jae Crowder
Harrison Barnes
Gordon Hayward
Kyle Kuzma
Franz Wagner
Dorian Finney-Smith
Herbert Jones
Keldon Johnson

All of these guys made a large number of starts at the "power forward" position, and none of them are these traditional big bruiser guys like Bobby. Hell, Bobby himself changed in order to be a viable option for us. He went out and became a knockdown shooter. The landscape of the position has changed, and that's an important part when projecting Beauchamp's possible switchability. Even Tatum was +1.75" in height, -1.75" in wingspan, and 8 lbs heavier than Beauchamp when he was drafted. There's just not this mammoth gap in size there.

I don't expect Beauchamp to go out and clamp folks down to some unrealistic degree where he won't have matchup issues and problematic matchups. You want him to go out and demonstrate the ability to rotate and compete physically in year one, hopefully have a few moments that make you stop and go, "huh, he actually did that, nice."

I'm pretty trusting of our FO (mainly Horst and Bud), and to see them that excited was cool. I'm pretty pumped for MarJon.

I got frigging goosebumps seeing the championship trophy. I think I would cry if I saw it in real life. I probably care more about our stupid team than the people running it.

So you really think Bud is going to play MarJon at the playoffs against Boston and be able to bother Tatum or Brown. OK , but I disagree.
MarJon is barely 6'7 with shoes, 197 lbs ... his 7'0 ft wingspan is enough against non NBA players to recover. I believe his footwork is not good in terms of 1st step explosiveness, reaction ... and he needs to gain at least 30 lbs of muscle in order to not shoved around by guys like Tatum, Brown and other NBA wings. His length is really good but I feel he is 2 years away to become a really good defender at the NBA. I wish his work ethic speeds up the process but in any case I don't think he will be ready this year.

The more you talk the more I want to change my vote from B to A.

I'm all in and super high on Beauchamp but I'm not buying the 'he was our top guy' jazz. They said the same thing with DJ Wilson.. it's just hype hyperbole.

Well I mean I'd assume he's their top guy at that spot/range......

Sadly I think DJ was the top guy of those remaining at our pick. Wasn't that the year the whiteboard leaked and he was like number 8 overall on our big board :banghead:

They were so happy when they picked him. Either they know they possibly got a steal or they're clueless.

This is the first pick the Bucks FO has made where I think I like it? I don't know I hated every pick we had made from Vaughn to DDV. I know that both the Thon and Wilson picks I couldn't muster any homer optimism despite trying like hell. DDV I came around a little bit on. But they always seemed to be picking limited players with decent skills but nothing elite. My biggest complaint has always been the lack of any real ceiling in the players that they took. Don't give me Thon or Vaughn both of whom showed nothing that made them draftable imo. But MJB has not only a decent skill floor he also has that 1 in 1000 chance to be a star. He has the body control well attacking the rim that I think so many people overlook. It's a natural fluidity that you can just see. I don't think there is any question he eventually becomes passable as shooter either. If he can just bump his handles up a notch or two I see borderline all star ceiling. Now he needs to become elite ball handler so unlikely it happens but I can see the possibility. Unlike so many other Bucks picks.
Bucks fandom bringing me happiness still seems like a dream.

Not as happy as when they picked Joe Alexander.

I feel the same as when they got Donte. Was not high on him but figured hitting his ceiling (defensive energy guy/average shooter off the bench) was a decent possibility. I was wrong. Dude was butt.

I had a sliver of hope for Thon because despite fully buying the fake age thing immediately, I saw enough raw basketball skill with him. Wilson and Vaughn were just baffling.

With Marjon, has every other first rounder signed? What’s the precedent for a situation like this?

Can't wait to see MJB in Summer League. Should be fun. He seems to be very excited to be on the Bucks.
