Kyrie Irving can be bought out as well. I'm surprised that a lot of people are not talking about that option. Him opting in was the smartest thing for him to do. Even if he comes in for the veterans minimum to the Lakers, he already secured his money.

I really think that we should look into Anthony Davis and a pic for Kevin Durant, or really looking to trading for Murray and John Collins.

Randy - great name but bad trade ideation.

The Nets wouldn't do this trade.

They view Russ as damaged goods who is way overpaid. They don't want to take as they have to contend with their picks in Houston's hands. They won't trade Harris.

I guess if you could replace Stanley Johnson with a young promising player from another team and add more valuable picks that will be accessible sooner it might be a better deal.

What team could you work with to facilitate this?

I've been pimping this idea

3 way deal
LAL trades
Westbrook + THT
gets Kyrie and Harris

CHA trades
Hayward + Rozier
gets Westbrook + THT

BRK trades
Kyrie + Harris
gets Hayward + Rozier

Lakers get Kyrie and an overpaid sniper role player. Also shaves a few mil off the cap, thus saving a nice chunk of lux tax money which im sure Jeannie would appreciate.

Hornets clear a ton of future cap and take a shot at THT to develop and add to their core. They tank a year and then get back Miles Bridges after he serves his suspension. Thus having a LaMelo, high lotto pick, cheaply resigned Brides, THT, and tons of cap space to utilize.

Nets get 2 solid, although over paid players, to put around KD + Simmons. Also their team is balanced enough where if they have to trade KD any package of decent players coming back will let them remain a decent squad.

Everyone gets something they need, and anyone demanding unprotected future FRPs can just go stfu.

The Laker hater brigade are all like, "Lakers need to give up 2 unprotected FRPs to dump Westbrick". ****, thats only if we get true impact players would we ever give up such a steep price. We're better off just keeping WB and hoping things work out instead of nuking out future like that.

This isn't the worst trade of all time. But, the Nets won't move anyone of an All-Star caliber at this time without picks involved. Look at the recent market for players and see how many picks were involved. If you think they would deal Kyrie without getting one unprotected 1st (or 2) then you are not being fair to your team or any team that would trade with you.

Kyrie's value at this point is worthless. He's basically shown he's willing to do whatever he wants and that includes sitting out and pouting. No team in their right mind would want to deal with that, and he's already destroyed their locker room by having Harden flee in disgust and KD demanding out.

Only reason LAL is willing to take him on, is cuz Kyrie says he wants to play for LAL and Lebron MIGHT be able to control his crazy ass. If a FRP has to be forked out, then it's gonna be singular and at least top 10 protected. None of that unprotected and pick swap bull.

I don't think Kyrie or KD want to be traded anywhere in the end...

But, if he did you have to realize Westbrook is worth about 10 cents on the dollar with his downfall in play, self-centered attitude, and massive contract. He has next to no value.

Kyrie is about 65 cents on the dollar. His play is HOF level, but his attitude off the court is irritating. When he plays he balls out.

No team will willingly take Westbrook at his age, decline, and salary without getting a massive pick haul. I am saying this to be honest with you. I have experience in this field.

It would take a 3-4 team deal for this to happen. But, it seems like KD might not want to go. He is waiting for the Nets to decide what to do with Kyrie first.

Lol your experience in this field is scrolling realgm, same as all of us. If nets keep Kyrie, the entire staff might be close to popping ludes just to get through their days.

I think the nets will ultimately make this deal, if the rumors that Kyrie ONLY wants to play for the Lakers is true. What else can they do? Who else is gonna take him, with a proclamation like that? Perhaps a 3rd team gets involved for their own ends..but Kyrie will end up here. What benefits the Nets, is Westbrook A) is at his best when it's just him. B) has the one remaining year, and then the Nets can move on, and go from there.

I can't call this a disaster, as I'm sure the Nets have raked in millions with ticket and jersey sales. But what a mess, basketball-wise. Durant missing whole first season. Kyrie missing tons...the whole covid issue. Harden and his nonsense. Still havent seen Simmons. And then to have them both demand out!

Next CBA is gonna be interesting. I think the Owners are gonna put a stop to this. And I'm kind of on their side with this one. A contract is a contract. Yeah, it may not be exactly what you wanted, they may not win, and you could feel trapped. I think you have a right to goto ownership and say you want out. But this sitting out stuff.....you signed a contract, just like they did. There are def some expectations from the team, and so there are expectations from you. Your getting paid millions and millions. It's not "slavery" to be expected to show up and honor the 3-4 year contract you signed.....even if things are going poorly. Companies sign deals, and realize the whole project is gonna be a loser.....but have to honor it anyhow. It's the nature of the beast.

Trust me, the owners and GM's WANT you happy. They want to keep you. You have leverage, which is that once the contract ends, you can walk....and they're stuck with nothing. Plenty of teams have given their long-time star players that nice final contract. It is a business, and it can be cut-throat....but your waking away with generational $$ at the end. And there are also plenty of examples of when a team does good by their player.

Keeping Westbrook might not be terrible but the decision to do it is to try build towards a better team next season while relying on Ham to make this team competitive.

Everyone but Davis and THT is expiring next season so THT would be a good candidate for trade. You'd want to go for an expiring, I think either Beverley fit well and can be had with THT and a LAL23swap.

Beverley, Lonnie, LeBron, Davis, Bryant -- Westbrook, Nunn, Reaves, JTA, Huff -- Christie, Brown, Gabriel, Jones

This team could work even with Westbrook starting and Lonnie as a backup. The big advantage of this in 2023 offseason is that Lakers have $37m capspace around Davis and LeBron (if he re-signs) or even more capspace if LeBron signs for less than max. Turner, Kyrie, GTJ, Barnes would be targets.

The Lakers had conversations about joining the Jazz and Knicks a few weeks ago in a potential three-team trade, league sources told HoopsHype. The proposed three-team trade scenario included Russell Westbrook going to Utah and getting bought out. Utah would send Donovan Mitchell to the Knicks, a combination of two players, including Patrick Beverley and Jordan Clarkson, Bojan Bogdanovic or Malik Beasley to the Lakers, and the Jazz would receive significant draft pick compensation from the Knicks and Lakers. The Knicks also would’ve had to part with veteran salary filler(s), such as Derrick Rose to help make the salaries work.

If that happens, just send Westbrooks ass home. Sign Bledsoe or Schroder instead of Huff.

Beverley/Brown Jr/LeBron/Davis/Bryant with Nunn, Walker, Reaves, JTA, Stanley, Jones off the bench is pretty damn solid. And honestly, just to avoid the nonsense - a week before trading camp, I'd do the 2 picks plus Westbrook for Turner, Hield, McConnell. Replace Brown Jr and Bryant in the starting line-up with Hield and Turner and you have a serious squad.

Beverley/Nunn/Bledsoe
Hield/Walker/Christie
LeBron/Brown Jr/Stanley
AD/JTA/Gabriel
Turner/Bryant/Jones

I think that's a Top 4 squad in the West.

Dream a Sweet Dream:

Kyrie - Harris - Myles.
#1: Westbrook+1 FRP for Kyrie+Joe Harris.
Why Nets? Shed money. Get FRP. Buy out WB. Or flip him to third team.

#2: THT, Nunn, Christie, 1 FRP for Myles Turner.
Why Indiana. Get younger and a pick for someone who they arent keeping.

Why Lakers?
Take on a lot of money, but add a lot of shooting with Harris/Kyrie/Turner and solidify the interior defense and AD's spot at the PF with Turner at the 5.

With THT and Stanley gone and Russ not playing, we still need a wing and a center a la BroLo.

Can we trade one of our 40-50 or so young wings for a good one?

Do it, Rob!

At this point it looks like its Hield/Turner or Bojan/Beasley/Reddish (or something like that). I'd really, really prefer the former because I think pairing Turner with AD to create a massive front line with incredible rim protection is the one way to cover up the flaws with the rest of the roster.
