I have no problem pulling or not making the offer, frankly I do not want a 35/36 yr old Dame making 55 mil per yr, yeah let's hamstring the team even more. I would trade him if a good deal came along now or more likely at the deadline or next summer - my opinion is this team will not do anything as far as the playoffs go as currently constructed. Also, wouldn't it make it harder to trade him with that extension? Nothing against Dame as he has been a great player to watch and a good guy, but at day's end it is a business. I'd also like to see him have a better chance to win a title and as I said I don't see it happening here, so a trade for me is a win/win for Dame and the Blazers
This is exactly what I've been feeling for some time now. I have a hard time believing, while playing alongside Simons and under Chauncey... Dame's value will increase in the minds of the true NBA GMs. They know what they are getting in Dame. But he is not Durrant or Bron, and can't make the same demands regarding where he might go if traded. While a ton of teams would surely want to trade for Dame, I'd imagine only a handful of teams NOW, will want him at his cost... especially if extended.
I honestly feel like our team has really changed for the better in alot of ways since Olshey and Stotts were sent packing. I also feel our roster can compete quite soon, IF, we only had a really good addition at the PF. I would definitely make a trade for that stud PF using Dame. Rebuild complete! Give me a Ben Simmons and a good lottery pick, and I do the trade yesterday. I'd even be willing to stomach Westbrick for a year if that's what it takes.
In Cronin, I Trust!!!
