We don’t need their consent, but we got 2 second round picks when we signed Evan Fournier in a sign and trade. We probably want the same from Dallas. If they don’t want to, they get no TPE.

Exactly. Dallas needs that TPE and it will cost them 1 or 2 SRPs. If Knicks sign Brunson outright which they can do, Dallas gets NOTHING. They are over the cap now and next year.

Dallas could consider angling for cap space to sign a guy in a year. If they are willing to facilitate Kyrie to LA they can unload Bertrans, Dinwiddie, Powell.

I have no **** idea why there are a thousand people weeping in the thread about some execrably badly written post on base year compensation when we've been discussing it for months - particularly wrt Brunson. We know this stuff guys, we really do.

Again, we discussed this, including the numbers, days ago. A Brunson descending contact for 106/4 enables a Fournier s&t, whereas anything less doesn't.

Edit to clarify: under the assumptions that the Detroit trades go through and a Fournier s&t is simply a one player add on to Brunson to the Knicks and the Knicks-Detroit deals
