One free agent away? With no cap space for anything other than a vet min contract.

Totally delusional.
"We're a free agent away"? Yeah, maybe if that free agent is Giannis. And how are you going to sign him with a third of the payroll devoted to Beal?

Good news is that by 2025 or so, when there is a new TV deal, the cap could jump to close to $175M or more.

That means that other teams will have more to spend as well.

Right... & by far the best way to deal with that coming jump in the cap is to get a head start & sign Brad at the highest possible salary -- with a 5 year guarantee! What could possibly go wrong with that?
Breaking News: In a shocking development, Wizards owner Ted Leonsis has sold the NBA franchise to a consortium of participants in a discussion board devoted to the team on realgm.com. Details to follow....

Very interesting.
It really surprises me that the NBA thinks they can command such an expensive TV deal given the long term state of the global economy. There is a looming debt disaster and a potential decline of the dollar as the global default currency. We will see what a couple of years of high interest rates does to that optimistic projection.

Brad is going to leave after Year 2 or 3 because So Wiz. He'll find a few teams that he wants to go to and hopefully, by then, the cap jumps at least 10 to 15 million to his contract will be more affordable.

If this is true, it's probably the best case scenario. We get Beal for last couple years of his 20's, then ship him off before he really hits the downside of his career. Not that he isn't already on the downside, it just will get worse as he hits his 30's.
I remember hitting my 30's and they hit hard. I used to be a professional backgammon player in my 20's and I was a beast. Mean left hand, even better right hand. Kyrie-level backgammon handle. Anyway, I had to retire pretty quick after I hit 32. My knees couldn't take it anymore.
Can't say I do. Who else gonna shoot?

Just called Brad the 2d guy to be a Wizard for a decade -- after Wes Unseld.
I guess John Wall (2010-11 to 2019-20) doesn't count....
Great when a franchise is "loyal" to its guys, huh?

I mean, they threw Wall under the bus for a gang sign in a snapchat video.

A free agent away from... what?
Add Giannis to this team, & they still might not win the East. But, of course, he can't mean Giannis; he's not a FA.

The Wizards are now Ted's "focus." That's what I call a nightmare....

Don't get me started....
President Trump told two senior Russian officials in a 2017 Oval Office meeting that he was unconcerned about Moscow’s interference in the 2016 U.S. presidential election because the United States did the same in other countries

Tommy is not akin to the Vichy government in France in WWII. He has a job and he has a boss like many other people have in life. He tries to do the job the way the man who pays him wants. He should quit because if it were his team he'd run it differently? Come on, that's ridiculous

Wall played 9 total seasons for the wizards. Beal has played in 10.

I can count, Nat.
John Wall was drafted in June 2010.
In June 2020 he was still a Wizard. 10 years.
Later that year, in December, he was traded.
Of course, if you're a punk organization like the Wizards, & you want to diss a guy today whom you were all about loving just yesterday, then you do like Ted did &, punk that you are, you don't give that guy his place in your history.
