They are giving him a max extension so that they can use him being on the roster as a way to tax potential buyers more because they can say they will be inheriting a "superstar".

The Trailblazers are so backwards, they just got traded a player in CJ McCollum that they should've traded years ago, to now put Lillard back into the same spot with Afernee Simmons.

You skipped over steps like meaningless wins and meaningless vet minutes and the Knicks failing to trade for Scoot even though they scout the hell out of him when the season is over because no team thinks 40 2nds + 11th pick is worth Scoot
