I can’t recall if I ever shared this story on the board but I got an invite to the Bucks draft party years ago and watched the draft with Jim Paschke. We were talking and the two players our conversation centered around were Thon Maker and Malcolm Brogdon. Of all the things we ended up drafting those two specific players. I’ve had an inkling the real draft is done behind the scenes and simply announced in public. It was just way too specific we ended up drafting exactly those two guys, it was like he already knew.

I think it's more than likely he knows what's going on within the org, isn't on a broadcast, and knows exactly who the team is scouting heavily.

In the same vein, McGlocklin used to live in Lake Country and came into the Cousins I worked at in high school from time to time. Had a few great basketball conversations with that man when we were really **** up until the summer we traded for Magloire. Him and Gilbert Brown who didn't talk so much as I watched him eat drastically different portions based on his immediate company.

I think you’re correct on the draft being sort of pre-baked to an extent. Tons of conversations between players, agents and teams.

Didn’t know on Brogdon that night, but the word that Thon would be the pick was running pretty rampant from people hanging around the organization the day of.

Shame that all those leaks couldn’t have baited a team picking before us to select him. Then again, most teams didn’t want to touch him in the top half of round one.

I’m not sure what this means, but I guess I am sticking with my point until I get more info that makes me reconsider it. If I am wrong, so be it.

He talked about Brogdon more than Thon, but could have been my reaction to the idea of Thon.

Once they get drafted I adopt them all, but he was pretty genuinely surprised by my disdain at the idea we would draft Thon

After the first game: yeah, he’s gonna be good.

He looks a legit 6-7 or 6-8 w/ a frame to fill out & moves well out there. I’m seeing Mikal Bridges & young Paul George potential for sure.

It’s similar to when San Antonio got Kawhi because they needed a wing with size & it ended up extending their window.

Only difference is, our best guys are still in their primes & he looks like a legitimate piece.

Didn't catch the game, but from what I read and watched on the highlights, MJB had a solid showing. He had some nice drives, moved fairly decent without the ball and hit some nice threes. His knack for finding cutting lanes is super-useful, especially if he's going to get minutes with the Big Three. He looks like a legit 6'6-6'7" with length so I don't think he'll have trouble adding 10-15lbs of bulk.

Definitely plenty to work with. He really needs to work on his handles, though, for sure. Adding some core/shoulder strength should help him maintain his balance while driving.

My snap judgement after 1 summer league game is
A to the Bucks for getting a guy at pick 24 who looks like he’ll be a 10-yr+ player in the league.
C to me for preferring EJ Liddell.

This is almost equal to KG's "Thon Maker will win MVP."

MarJon is overall a good athlete.
He lacks of speed, explosiveness and handles
Overall he doesn't know the game well so expect low BBIQ
He is indeed a great character and he will work really hard.
If he was 18 I would be more excited. He is 21, so he will not grow more and
he has to add 20 pounds of muscle to not be pushed around.
Really happy for his first game. Looks promising, but I can't translate it to meaningful NBA games
against opponents of a playoff team.
I wish him the best, I wish he becomes a really confident wide open 3p shooter and help us win a chip.

In case he becomes close to the above, I wish Bud adjusts and give him consistent minutes to concrete his confidence.*

My dad would always see him at cousins looking lonely and quietly eating his sub. I’d always tell my dad to to just sit down and talk hoops. That’s what he wanted but he wasn’t as big a fan as me.
