Is AJ Lawson a worse basketball player than Josh Green? I don't know...

I agree! He will be a great addition once he figures it all out.gottamakeit wrote:Hardy needs to learn to play with multiple gears.
He gets locked into his highest gear while going downhill into traffic and gets in trouble.
He needs the game to slow down for him. Hopefully Luka & Kidd can get the kid over the hump.

Good mindset to have. Hopefully he can put it together, he certainly has the talent.

Re: SUMMER LEAGUE THREAD
Agree with a lot of the sentiments but also everyone does need to calm down quite a bit. One summer league game isn’t the end of the line for the prospects like a lot of y’all are suggesting.
Sure if Bingham plays like that the whole time he’s out. But one game is still a very small sample size.
Hardy scored well. I like that he attacked close outs. We know he can catch and shoot so his ability to take someone off the bounce after Luka gets him open will be important. He for sure needs to learn to calm down and make smart decisions with the ball. But the ball not being in his hands as much will be good for him.

How is it possible for a young athlete who could potentially make millions to be that fat? It's a red flag for sure.
Luka
I almost made a joke about Luka.

Hardy is more Hardaway than Brunson. And fouls, turnovers and defense, there're still a lot to work on. If Hardaway remains on roster, I actually can't see Hardy crack the rotation very quick. Let's see how Hardy response as a facilitator next game.

Re: SUMMER LEAGUE THREAD
Didnt watch the game but I watch highlights
Lawson’s jumpshot is beastly. I have to see him shoot next game to confirm but he’s clearly pure shooter. I hope to god he plays good defense as well. Luka need an accurate shooter with that type of shot.
Hardy is clearly a scorer, he isn’t shy at all. Decision making has to get better but I like his talent. Shot looks good and has no problem driving. He’ll definitely be a player we can pass to and let create a shot.

Re: SUMMER LEAGUE THREAD
the problem with summer league is they do not run plays and it is all a bunch of guys playing street ball and that does not play into the way you need to play in the pros or to evaluate talent properly especially with bigs and that is usually the case when you have a bunch of guards that will not look to find ways to involve others because you have a bunch of ball hogs trying to impress and so they are barely passing the ball to anyone unless they see they are open for a score.
Simonavic looked great in there but he was a second year guy not a rookie and he is older being born in 1999. I did not expect Bingham to tear it up in summer league because I know how the ball hogs are.
His rebounding stats were ok for the limited minutes he got and he did get a couple of steals to go along with those but I did not watch the game since I was working then so I just saw the highlights and cannot say if he was bad or good. I will try to watch the next game for sure but if they do not play you or pass to you they are basically not trusting you with the ball enough so you can show what you can do and he needs to get more minutes than 16 unless the coach thinks you are just not getting involved enough and it is a waste of time to play you.
Hardy on the other hand was great from what I saw and the Lawson kid is someone I might want to have instead of Dorsey and maybe even Green.
I hope he gets an invite to camp because he can shoot. I really do not understand why the Mavs sign Dorsey to his deal when they have yet to even evaluate what they have in summer league. What was the hurry about?

Re: SUMMER LEAGUE THREAD
Problem for players like Hardy is how he adapts to totally different role in Nba. He won't have 20 shots, he won't have the ball much in his hands, emphasise will be on D, efficiency, playing time will be short...Total different reality.

I love that you post your analytics of the players. Hardy got me hyped about having a prospect going forward. Where can I watch the games?

Who's faster driving to the rim? Hardy or DSJ?

Kaodirichi Akobundu-Ehiogu
A raw prospect but still I am very surprised no team invite Ehiogu for the SL. At least, Legends can get a raw big on elite measurement and athleticism.

DSJ was far and beyond more athletic then Hardy is. Hardy though, is much more skilled and has a more NBA ready body.

The biggest limitation of many of those physically gifted players is, that they want everything to do in a hurry, which ends with many bad, too difficult plays. On the other side of the spectrum you have, Luka/Jokic, where everything is slow, deliberated. DSJ didn't find middle ground between those 2 approaches, I hope Hardy can.

In the sense the Hardy will be more of a 2 in the NBA and Brunson is really more of a 1 yes you’re correct.
But at the same time you have to let Jaden Hardy be Jaden Hardy. He’s not particularly similar to Jalen or Tim. If we really wanna do pro comparisons he’s a Jordan Clarkson type with Bradley Beal potential.
I fully believe that Jaden will do much better if all dallas asks him to do is, 1. Shoot well from 3(e.i. Take smart catch and shoots not pull ups and step backs), 2. Play defense, 3. Attack off the dribble on close outs and maybe a few PnRs. Jaden isn’t a point guard but he has played mostly point guard every year of his life, having the ball less and him thinking “I should only be taking smart effective shots” will do wonders for him.

Re: SUMMER LEAGUE THREAD
If Green can defend and set up teammate like Pajola, then Green should have been in the starting lineup.
